1. Build quality, made in the USA, good looks that fits with the rest of my home, added features like a camera or at least something that notifies me of detection.

2. Neither, they’re both horrific. Its 2018, can we not make something that looks nice, at least remotely comperable to the light we have down below. If someone were holding a gun to my head, i guess i’d choose option 2.

Security lights must be powerful (high level of lumen output) yet, efficient (low level of power consumption, solar power, etc.) and durable (able to withstand the elements without having to be regularly serviced).

Light (1) looks more aesthetically pleasing for a home with modern styling. Light (2) looks more tailored for a commercial or recreational application. Construction materials and colors are largely preferential to the potential client and their budget. Many prefer a budget-friendly fixture (plastic or aluminum) while, some prefer fixtures with heavy-duty metal constructions. Colors which allow fixtures to remain incognito with the house are typically preferred and used.

For security purposes, I would want to maintain the most crisp output of light possible by using clear lenses. However, depending on the fixture itself, the use of a frosted lens may help with the dispersion of light over a great surface area.
