Our grocery store just started carrying full fresh meal kits in a case right by the front door. We tried one other day. Vietnamese lemongrass pork with coconut rice and Asian cabbage salad. It was very tasty and I thought it was a good way to see if we would be interested in signing up for a service.

It was less expensive than eating out but not by much. On the negative side, there were no leftovers and no extra ingredients that could be used to another meal.

Gobble. com has been advertising on NPR. I have no experience with them, but it sounds like you put it in a pan and cook it when it arrives.

Am I correct that you want already prepared meals vs kits? Ubereats is super simple if it is available in the area-- but whether it fits her needs depends on what restaurants are available in her area. None deliver to my house but my parents are closer to the city and they have full offerings from a variety of different style restaurants... .diners to finer dining... healthy to indulgent. I'd go that route if only because of the variety and because you can decide NOW and have something at your door in 45 min. Some locations offer little more than pizza and sandwiches.

I recommend you download the app and load her address in and see what they offer! If it looks like it will work, you can get an ubereats (or uber) gift certificate!

There are local services here for meal delivery-- basically caterers who do it on the side or personal chefs... but you need to plan a week in advance.

I’ve had a few of the meals and I thought they were good. The wife of someone I work with works there and he’s given me a few to try as they’re not available in our area. I was skeptical as they come in a pkg that looks a bit like Lean Cuisine. Interestingly they tell you to plate the meal which is great advice as you then feel like you’re eating a nice meal vs Lean Cuisine. I have wondered about the price as it’s one container, one meal, unlike services like Hello Fresh that serve more than one.

Funkyart, I thought about Ubereats, but I want something that will show up at her door without her having to do anything to cause it to happen. She is so overwhelmed right now with BIL’s illness that I think making a phone call is too much for her to handle. She doesn’t have a lot of mettle.

Doe she have a closeby neighbor who would be able to accept a package for her? My concern would be delivery if she's spending time at the hospital.

I ”chatted” with Freshly today and asked about how long the packages will keep. I was told they allow 2 days for transit and delivery, plus 12 hours to sit on the porch. I do not know any of their neighbors and they aren’t close friends with any neighbors.

I know Munchery would delivery to a cooler left on the front porch. I would just put a note in the delivery request section. Not sure if other services will do this.

3katz, thanks! Glad to have a “taste tester” among us! Have you tried the Chicken Parm, the Spaghetti Squash with Meatballs, the Pesto Chicken and/or the BLT omelet? SIL is diabetic so I’m going for the low carb choices.
