I prefer the second rug layout. It's a gracious entryway so it's nice to have the rug fill the space a bit more, plus you always want to give breathing room around a rug rather than squishing it up against a wall or piece of furniture. We generally steer clear of light toned entry rugs for practical reasons so you may want to consider that. And lastly, a flat weave rug is more suitable for a space like this than a cut pile, which is what your rug appears to be (maybe I'm reading the images incorrectly?). They're more durable and easier to clean.

With your table and buffet close together you really can't use a rug with them. You need 36-42" of space all around a table for the rug, and it shouldn't run into the buffet. You'd get a better look if the chandy and table were centered in the room. Ruggable will have all different sizes in the same pattern if you want that look.

I like my runner in front of my sink, and I think yours looks good where you have it. I would not put one on the other side, where it appears the pantry door might interfere. You'll get opinions here from people who think rugs in the kitchen are tantamount to pure evil, and those who love them. There's not a lot of middle ground, but do what works best for you, of course.
