Now that's a lot of applesauce.

DH went to the local farm stand hunting for 'real tomatoes' - heirlooms. And since they were closing up for the night they sold him the leftover flowers for $5.00.

Morning glory with garlic (not the morning glory we know here in the US; in Asia it's a green that is prepared and eaten like spinach). It is sometimes called water spinach as well: Tom Yum is a spicy soup that often contains shrimp. One of my favorites, I ate a lot of different versions of it while we were in Thailand: Larb - a salad consisting of finely chopped meat (in this case chicken), herbs, spices and served with lettuce leaves, mint leaves and other greens:

We have osprey eagles in our area. This is one of the nests around Our city actually built a big box for them to nest in on the tv station tower. It sets up a live camera inside every spring to see the hatching and growth of the chicks.

A "flying pig". There was a contest years ago and these large pigs in different conformations were made and then painted. I don't remember the winning pig but all the pigs were then auctioned off and some ended up on public property while others ended up in private hands. They are still fun to see around town from time to time.

Most of our apple trees have lost a lot of leaves and have relatively few apples this year. The notable exception is the Golden Delicious.

We had a yellow Swallowtail visit again. Part of one wing missing, only one "tail". Still fluttering and feeding.

It finally bloomed and I do have a 'Mauritanica'! I must've switched labels. Whew. Now if I can find any other Symphyotrichum oolentangiense, I'll be set.

Alisande, that's an astounding number of apples on your tree! Are they tiny? Where are the leaves, or am I just not seeing them amongst the apples?

Taken at the Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Elephants aren't the only rescue animals who call the ENP home.

They make the very best applesauce and glazed apples (IMHO). ;)

Sjerin, the leaves are present in that picture, but missing from the lower branches, which I didn't photograph. The tree also dropped most of the apples produced by the lower branches. This is also true of my other apple trees (multiple varieties). Some other leaves fell awfully early this year as well. And it's not just my trees; some other local residents have told me the same thing. I don't know what this says about climate change or anything else. It's a mystery.

Oh, and the Golden Delicious is never our largest apple anyway, but with so many on the tree this year I expect they'll be fairly small.

Thank you Winter, I am feeling ok. The breast lumpectomy convinced the oncologist to go along with my wishes of doing nothing at this time. Do regular mammograms and wait and see. Then a Holter monitor revealed no big issues with my heart rhythm as was suspected. So all is well for now. Life is good!

That news makes me happy, Gaz. I hope life continues to be good. These are the years we all should be able to relax and enjoy. Not spend them filled with worry and angst.
