Sherean; I've had the GE Induction Range for about 6 weeks. Switched over from a Sears Smooth top range, with which I despised greatly. I grew up cooking with gas. I LOVE LOVE LOVE (did I mention I love this range?) this range. I will be redoing my kitchen this summer, we bought this range early b/c Sears had a fabulous sale in October (I got it for $2159). I also decided against wall ovens as I have a convection micro: that and the range provide plenty of oven space. I love the responsiveness of the burners (the middle warming hob is radiant, not induction, btw -- not a problem). The Convection oven is large, has worked wonderfully. The warming drawer was fabulous at Christmas -- we had many people over 5 hours and it really worked well at staging the biscuits and meat. The rangetop is a joy and soooo easy to clean, compared to that #$^%%$# smoothtop that is sitting in my garage. My only complaint thus far is that fingertips show easily on the control panel - but disappear easily with a microfibre cloth. Oh, and the timer has a weenie beep, compared to the ^%$^&^%$%% old smoothtop. I bought a Circulon Infinite set and a Henckels International Classic Clad. I have been very pleased with both sets. One word of warning, it took 3 delivery dates to get the range, it was delievered 6 weeks after I bought it. Plan accordingly. Here's a link where I have 2 posts discussing more about the range. Good luck and Bon Appetit. Rita Here is a link that might be useful: more comments on GE Induction

I have three kids so am very familiar with the issues with placing a rug under the kitchen table. We also had remodeled our kitchen and added new hardwood floors so understand your concerns there as well. I was a hold out for a long time, but finally put one there last year. I did not purchase a rug, however, but moved one there that I already owned that I had in the family room when I purchased a different rug for that room. The rug that went under the kitchen table is a very inexpensive synthetic rug that cost me around $60. So far, it has held up well and when it gets too stained or latex backing starts to emit a smell (as can happen with inexpensive rugs), I will replace it. As it's a fairly dark rug with a busy pattern it does not show the dirt. Added pluses are that the chairs do not scratch my hardwood floors. Even with the little felt pads on the legs, sometimes they would come off or the start picking up all the mess and dust on the floor--though I still keep felt pads on the legs since the chairs are moved sometimes when guests visit. Shee, is correct about the sizing of the rug--conservative measurements would be to allow about 3' extra around all sides beyond the table size. In my case that was not possible due to space limitations and I've gotten by with a lot less. Previous to this I had my kitchen table on wall-to-wall carpeting and it would get so stained, dirty (and I feared smelly as well). When I first changed to hardwood, having an easy to clean floor was very important; not sure whether my kids are older (youngest is now 9) or that this is an dark, patterned area rug, but there is no comparision between the two. I still would never, never, want a kitchen table on wall-to-wall carpeting. My kids are still not THAT neat! Here is my kitchen table rug: Here is picture without the rug: I've even started using a cloth tablecloth as well. It gets dirty, but I wash regularly and keep a vinyl tablecloth below so if the kids want to do something messy, we just pull off the cloth one and use the vinyl.

I'd either like to refinish the table top in a different color, or do floating bench seating, as Beth suggested. It's hard for me to visualize with the table the way it is, which is why I took the second set of pictures. That's probably how I truly should judge whether the rug goes with the kitchen. :) Hubby likes the first one best, but I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. More to come...

I would not let the .7 cf dictate here... like someone had said previously - it probably is due to one single door vs the 2 french doors. Is the non-french door model a side by side or it is still a bottom freezer with a large single door fresh food area? I dislike the side by side. My friend has a french door - it makes me crazy because you feel like you have to open both doors all the time to see everything. I have a single door ref and love it! However it is in a location where that larger door swing is not an issue - so take your layout into account. I do find that I only really fully open the door when I am putting groceries away or cleaning it. Good luck!
