Fantasia Polish Christmas ornaments
Comments (11)Thanks all. I hope the photo uploads. In most cases the boxes are original to the ornaments. They are coded on the side of the lid and in the case of solid colors they always have the color name on them with the size and shape code. I know of some designs that are certainly form the early 50's since my grandfather bought them and we have record of those (one of his is the pink and gold striped one in the photo). but other designs are confusing. Just looking at the detail on them, and knowing that most companies decrease detail as production goes up and time goes on, I guestimated that certain flowered ornaments were older, but they might not be. see photo for blue floral vs. green and red striped ... To be clear, the ornaments I found with the Gee Bees label were solid blue and all original. The company may have made the solids longer than the decorated. but the box designs is what I thought was the oldest design. UGH - I wish I coudl find corporate records form this company....See MoreChristmas Ornaments - ajsmama
Comments (9)I was looking at our tree thinking we need some plain glass balls to balance the all glass shape ornaments. My dads family came from an area in Germany where the hand blown ornaments were very popular and as a family our tree growing up had hundreds of blown glass ornaments. WHen I started my own I started to collect shapes - fat english policeman, dogs, stockings, bells, santas, snowmen, birds galore etc. I have some early Radko but honestly since I like the older look his got way to gaudy for my taste - the old polish ornaments were not that over the top. I like Old World Christmas brand - they are more affordable, not so large and have a more traditional look. We now probably have nearly every animal and bird as well as numerous other shapes. Unfortunately, I was so focus on the shapes I did not get the more simple kind to balance it all out - did not show has much in previous years as our 8 foot tree could barely hold what we had. THis year in our new house we have a 14 footer - with much more space and I can see that it would look better with more simple glass ornaments on it. Love justgotabeme's tree. Unfortunately, as others say they have also experienced - my stores are sadly under stocked and I can't find much. I definitely want a bit of a vintage feel as that is my style with decorations....See MoreFavorite Christmas Ornaments
Comments (35)Oh Dear...this is a hard one. I lost so many in a Rodent Infestation and then again so many more when my tree toppled, that it seems all the ornies that are left, are all my favorites now! Every ornie that isn't a standard round glass or plastic ball-style, has a memory attached to it or represents someone in my family ie; Woodworker Santa= Mr.Amity because he loves working with wood. I was able to save one of my Grandpa's ornies...even though it had a few tiny chew marks in it, I just had to clean it and put it on the tree. My daughter painted this when she was six years old. She's now 34. Me and the kids made these back in the late 70's using a kit and the oven to melt the 'glass'. Made by Grandma in late 60's. I've never had to re-stiffen it. I had several. Unfortunately this one is the only one that survived the Rodent Rage. Painted by Son back in the late 70's. Woodworker Santa;...See MoreShow us your Christmas Tree!
Comments (88)I have have looked at this thread many times & so enjoyed seeing all the beautiful, unique trees! First year in this converted barn with 11ft ceilings. My tree is a little dinky, but I call it my woodland tree. It's full of animals/critters that we have at our place. Pheasant feathers from DH hunting trips, antlers found or from FIL hunting- yes, I'm in the south- way of life down here!! I kept this tree more neutral to not fight with my colors. We also had a Charlie Brown tree with family ornaments- all hung with no regard to looks or colors-- it was my favorite!! And this one in our bedroom-swavorski ornaments for every year we've been married Happy Holidays!!...See MoreUser
