Help design my dining room!
Here is my space. It's a bit awkward with the door to the enclosed mudroom to outside. My first problem;
1. do I keep the bench? It takes up a lot of space, and eventually I plan on putting a door there to the back yard. The floor is finished underneath, so it can come out. Window treatment ideas needed too!
2. I've purchased the attached table 72" W X 36" D X 30" H It will be here next month. I need to get 6 affordable chairs to go with it, as well as decide on placement.
3. I would love a buffet or console table, but fear there's no room. Can shelves work on the door wall?
4. The light/placement will probably need changing, but I have the ac vent on the ceiling there.
I hope I can start to get some Ideas especially for chair styles as I like more modern, but don't know what will look good with the table! I've put my art on the kitchen wall and I will attach that too..

Comments (53)Your rearrangement of the seating is a huge improvement. For balance, you really need a longer couch instead of that dinky loveseat. Depending on budget, I'd keep the two black chairs (if they're Ikea's Poang chairs, I know they're comfortable) because they're neutral and allow great flexibility. When you do a gallery wall, don't use those frames with multiple openings for snapshots or anything like that cluster you have now. Choose your very best candid shots; remember, this is your artwork so it should be compelling. You can create a cohesive gallery wall by framing all the photos the same, or by converting them all to black and white or sepia tone. It's pretty inexpensive now to have them printed on canvas and stretched. One of my favorite uses of family photos is this:There are some articles on Houzz about creating gallery walls. Comments (2)Longer draperies hung higher on “c” rings will function easier and look better. Relocate the kitty tower and vacuum cleaners. Coffee spot could be a shallow cabinet placed on the long wall in the space between the dining area and the kitchen. The decorative medallions are hung a little high…the center of the artwork should be 57” off floor. Then artwork on the back wall (opposite kitchen). 5 years agoNew table is in, wondering if I need to find a rug to lighten it up? I really need chair style/color ideas. Should I move my art to the left wall? I also have to decide on placement in the room and deal with the light fixture.
