Beautiful mirror! It's close, but my vote would be above the set of drawers.

It looks great in both places. I love the warmth the wood adds to the bathroom but it also goes really well above the side table. I think you can go either way.

Bossy do you mean bigger than the round one? I had one of those rectangular mirrors with the mirror frame but sold it to put the round one in its place. Here is the old mirror.

First of all.... you and DH made that? Wow! color me impressed! I love it over the console and think it's worthy of standing on it's own or with very specific things that don't distract from the sculptural simplicity.

Forgive me for straying into an area you didn't ask about. Your bathroom wainscot is just beautiful and the blue is gorgeous which is saying a lot because I am NOT a blue person. I think the mirror struggle in there is related to the wainscot stiles (vertical members) over the sink. Obviously it's part of the overall design but it's making mirror placement complicated. From your last picture it 'appears' that if you could remove the 2 center stiles and inset a mirror between the remaining stiles that you'd have a better fit. The photo could be misleading but a cut to fit, unframed, beveled mirror would be lovely and not distract from that gorgeous wainscot. Thought I'd through that out there.

If the bathroom you are putting it in, is a half bath, go for it. I would also suggest you change out the lighting to reflect the design of the mirror and walls. It would be a great look.

If not, over the console. I also suggest that you minimize the items on the console.

It's a GORGEOUS mirror! In the bathroom, as your hubby is holding it, is it high enough for him? It looks like it might be a tiny bit low if he is standing straight in front of the mirror.

I do love it over the console table; it seems to be made for that spot, with the color of the stair rail and the nearby floors.

It looks great in the bathroom, but it is rather small for a bathroom mirror. So it depends on if you are okay with it being that small for a bathroom mirror. We personally would put it over the console, not the bathroom, as it works great over the console.

Over the console without all the plant material taking away from the really nice mirror. IMO it is too big for the bathroom and does not work with the wall trim. My only problem with the console placement is what will it reflect?

Thanks for all your opinions. We added the wainscotting to the bathroom earlier this year. The blue color is BM Van Deusen Blue. If it is hung over the console it would be at the bottom of the stairs. The frame is made from pine but stained to be darker. DH also built the console table a few years ago. Before I painted the walls the table was yellow. We recently painted it navy and built the herringbone top for it.

The bathroom vanity is about the same color as the mirror frame.

Thanks again for all your view points. We decided to stick with plan A. Since we made it for the bathroom we decided to put it there. Here is how it looks with the vanity.

Ha, thanks nhbaskets. I think once it was made I just had to try it above the console. If not I would always wonder if I should have gone that route instead.

Still sticking with putting the mirror in the hall. It is perfect there. As for it in the bathroom, I don’t think it is the correct shape and it overhangs the moldings.
