Toto Drake II questions

I am looking to install a new toilet and am thinking of the Toto Drake II https://www.amazon.com/TOTO-CST454CEFG-01-Elongated-Sanagloss/dp/B002CQ4NVM/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1535123116&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=toto+drake+ii&psc=1&smid=A26IUZUXHW3XDS

Wondering if others have had good experiences with this toilet? Would there be others to consider that would be a better choice?

The Drake II has a CeFiONtect glaze which I think used to be called sanagloss. In the technical specs on the Amazon page for the toilet, they list a prop 65 warning and wondering if this is related t the glaze or somethings else? Thanks.

Had the Drake installed last year and functionally/operational/maintenance it is perfect. One flaw which makes no sense is the water closet lid doesn't over lap with the tank showing unfinished edge all around the tank. It just stands out like a sore thumb but the installer said it was usual butlooks like a flaw to me.

The Prop 65 warning is that the glaze in your toilet is not safe enough for California to want you to be drinking it. So don't drink out of your toilet, you could get a small risk of cancer or "reproductive harm."

I love my Toto with the glaze. Sanigloss or Cefiontect - same thing, just as you thought.

I am in the exact same boat. I bought a Drake not knowing I had a 14+ in rough in. It sat about 5 inches from the wall and looked terrible. I am currently without a toilet because I don't feel good enough about my 14 inch rough in options. I'd be interested in hearing what you decide to do.

I've had a Drake II for about a year and I'm sold. The performance is everything I would expect from a (good) 1.6-gpf toilet and more. About the only thing I can note (I will try to do this delicately) is that sometimes waste that does not land in the water can stick surprisingly well. This does not happen often and I haven't figured out why it sometimes happens and sometimes does not (OK, I don't want to spend a lot of time thinking about it!). Even with that, the occasional extra cleanup that requires is more than made up for by not having all those holes get scaly and mildew-y. It truly is easier to clean than standard toilets.

Which Drake is everyone referring to? The standard Drake using 1.6 gallons that is #1 selling toilet on Amazon Toto CST744SL #01 or the Drake II which is rimless and has the double cyclone technology, making it a closer match to the Carlyle II which has the Tornado technology and is rimless (and skirted). There is also a Eco Drake that is similar to the standard Drake but uses 1.28 gallons. We are considering the standard 1.6 gallon Drake for our secondary bathrooms because of its low price and yet excellent flushing. Saving water is not a priority for those bathrooms that don't get used a lot anyways. We are considering the Toto Ultramax II 1.28 - which is the same as the Carlyle II 1.28 but without the skirt. I like the idea of the skirt but it didn't appear that the Carlyle's skirt was as simple as needed to be easy to clean and thus not worth the extra $185. Also, as far as Toto colors, the cotton white is the bright white and Colonial white is the antique white.

We just put in a round front Toto Drake II (I believe 1.28gpf) with sanigloss finish. Replacing an old American Standard Cadet. Love the tornado flush and sanigloss finish (they call it cefiontect now not sanigloss but sanigloss is easier to spell and pronounce IMO). I clean the bowl with regular dish soap or fabuloso/water mixture. So far no clogs whereas the Cadet clogged a few times a year (though it was pretty old so maybe that contributed to the occasional clogging). I liked the Cadet and it was a workhorse but I prefer the tornado flushing system of the Toto. Water spot of the Drake II is normal/fine. Though we have a Toto Aquia in the basement and the water spot on that one is WAY too small. Also, back then the Aquia did not have the tornado flush system it comes with now. I believe the water spot is still too small though, even though the flushing action is better.

Good information but I put you on the wrong track. My issue is cosmetic regarding the outside of the water closet and its lid. They do not line up and the unfinished rough surface is visible all around the lid.

I just remodeled and installed two Toto toilets.

I wouldn't go with the model you have listed for two reasons: It isn't skirted and it is two piece. Toto has very similar models that are one piece and skirted.

I went with a skirted model because I didn't want to have to clean around the trap that protrude along the side. A skirted model just has sleek sides which are much easier to wipe down and don't accumulate dust or other detritus.

A one piece toilet doesn't have that seam/crack underneath the tank. Again, I wanted to minimize any spaces where shmootz could accumulate and would have to be cleaned.

My toilets have that finish and so far it lives up to expectations. I do also have a Toto washlet with a prerinse function so that theoretically also helps maintenance and cleaning.

As for Prop 65 warning, it is required to sell in California and is a complete CYA label. I applaud the intent of the requirement which is to warn people they are entering a zone which contains hazardous elements. However, the label now appears literally everywhere so it is ignored. If I enter a parking structure or elevator, I will see the label. And of course, for example, it appears in an auto repair shop (for example) where hazardous chemicals are likely to be around. In short, pay it no mind as it appears on a mainstream toilet :-).
