overwatered mountain laurel
Comments (3)I LOVE mountain laurel and I have several I have planted, different colors and flower shapes, on my small, NJ property. They just finisheed blooming and they were AWESOME. They can, however, be tricky, especially when first transplanting from pots to the ground. For larger plants, they seem to take a couple of YEARS to adjust. I have actually had better luck planting small, liner size plants or transplanting from one location to another. They have shallow, fibrous roots. I think the shape of the roots is all wrong in a pot, and it takes them some time to spread out surface roots. Make sure they are not planted deep, they should be planted shallow, on small raised areas amended with fine pine mulch, peat etc. They want that combination of acid soil and "moist but well drained". They will need to be watered often, but should be planted in a location where excess water will drain off reasonably quickly. Good luck with them!...See Moreanyone stop using their sink grid?
Comments (50)It's a bit of a love/hate situation for me. Like: Leveling and raising the level of the deep sink. Letting items drain out of sight. Standing things up to drain supported by the cross bars. Catching food scraps before they end up in the drain (more later on this). Dislike: Chasing things down the drain. Please God make it stop! Getting bits of stuck-on gunk off the grid. Scrubbing both sides of the grid. Drbeanie, if you plan to never scrub your grid, do NOT get one or you will have a crap-fest hovering over your sink. Mine doesn't fit in my dishwasher. I spend more time (and water) at the sink chasing bits of food (mine and the cats') down the drain than any other activity. Catching food in the grid is both a blessing and a curse. I don't put a lot of food down the disposal, only little bits of stuff (e.g., oatmeal, catfood residue). The rest I dispose of offsite. The grid lets me toss stuff into the sink, but traps it. By the same token, food gets stuck on the grid and ultimately need to be scrubbed off....See Moreoops, stop stop stop, might offend :o(

Comments (27)I got a reply from GW people this morning to do the following to stop the ads. It involves the green underlined words we sometimes see, but it stopped the obnoxious ads. "I apologize for any inconvenience these ads as have caused you. We appreciate getting feedback from our members, and I have reported the pop-up issue to our community manager. In the meantime, you should be able to opt-out of the in-line (green underlined) texts by following these instructions: 1. When you're on a GardenWeb page, hover your cursor on the double-underlined word, but don't click it. You will see an advertisement open in a pop-up box. 2. In the upper-left corner of the box, click the 'V' logo. A new browser window will open the Vibrant in-text advertising page. 3. Scroll partially down this page, and click the 'Disable' tab. Click 'Click here to disable.' The page should update to now say 'Click here to enable.' 4. Close the Vibrant in-text advertising browser window, then once you refresh your main browser window the Vibrant in-text advertising should disappear."...See MoreNidnay
