New lawn and new home owner with lawn problems
Comments (10)really hard to tell for sure but typically fungus in my area is reddish/yellow. You may have multiple problems. The problem with newbies is that they want to solve problems with chemicals (I was one of the worst offenders). The worst time to add fertilizer is when a grass is stressed and excessive nitrogen will show up as patterns matching the application method. If you just applied the nitrogen within the last few days you can reduce the effect by watering heavily for one day but if you applied it more than a few days ago you are probably past the danger period. Again, check the soil moisture at about 2-6" deep at several areas in your lawn each week. It should be slightly wet the day of watering and then let it go to slightly damp before watering again. Wet all the time just rots the roots and causes yellowing due to lack of nutrients. With most soils a twice weekly 1" watering in the summer is all you need. When the grass comes back on it's own (and I'm almost certain it will) then evaluate the soil like I said and take any corrective action required. Guessing and throwing chemicals at it will probably make things worse....See MoreBuilding a New House-Change Orders Huge Problem
Comments (12)going through a similar situation. asked builder to put barn doors in house, want recess lights through out instead of pendents. this was all agreed upon the day we signed contract. we are 2 weeks from closing and i asked for finale cost. he is just now providing me with a change order. He's been adding up wall outlet in bathroom(which should be standard), recess lights over bar via pendents. He doesn't know much about the house bc he put on the change order-wooden shelves in pantry. However, wooden shelves were on the plans-but we agreed wired mesh would be ok but still wanted to charge us for wooden pantry. we did the outside kitchen just as on house plans-he states we went over-his contractors build it as it shows in plans...1. he has never communicated with us to let us know hey...you have this much allowance on this and it's going to put you this much over budget...are you good with that? Never has he given us the option regarding price nor provided us with a change order. i think he's trying to make up for the mistakes he's made and redo's he had to fix. Dont they have to do a change order and you agree upon instead of surprising you and given you a change order at the end....See Morenew home problems
Comments (3)Lets see, you signed on last Friday to tell us your tale of woe. You both have serious medical problems, you purchased a new home that sounds like its a case for Mike Holms, and you don't want to confront the builder because it's stressful. You don't seem to be able to do any of this work yourselves, so what would you like us to tell you? The tile grout sealer comes in a can or bottle and can be applied with an old toothbrush or a small paint brush. Ask the tile man what he would charge to seal the grout. The purpose of the sealer is to keep the grout from becoming dirty. I'm not sure I understand the shower problem. How are the wood floors being marked? What type of wood?...See MoreNew House, New Problems: Family Room NOT working
Comments (16)While grover’s solution is a good one, I think the niche is screaming for a built-in the full width of the niche.. Our house has one, with room for a 65-inch TV (my husband bought one within 5 minutes after moving in!). It has doored cabinets along the bottom and shelves on one side. I added another shelf on top of the TV area, to fill in the blank space there — and to prevent my hubby from buying an even larger TV!!!! I think it would be perfect for your space....See Morecpartist
