New House, New Problems: Family Room NOT working
Just moved into a new house and...I'm completely lost! I have no idea how to decorate, let alone what furniture to buy for the family room. TV stand too small, coffee table too big, rug too big, sectional wrong??? Everything is off center. I'm lost. I have a large family so I want the largest couch I can reasonably fit and the TV. Willing to get all new furniture if needed. Please take a look at the pics and TELL me what to do :).

I don't subscribe to emails and was asually looking at the threads and dfon't go to page 3 usually:) I am loving the sectional now and don't even see the angles anymore:) I still have to complete the decoration of the room because I got sidetracked with landscape. I got a couple of blue pillows from Target and they look great on the sofa. It adds a lot of substance to the huge room. I am happy with the purchase. Please let me know if you want any pictures. Can anyone give me any suggestions on how to decorate the tv wall. We out all the equipment for the tv in the wall behind so that we won't see the wire clutter but now the floating tv bothers me. We will change the size if the tv to a bigger one later on. The Tv is off the center of the wall because we centered it to the opening form the kitchen. I’m so confused when trying to style the house but when I look at pictures I know what I like. It’s just been so hard to make it happen because I think I may need to pick one to move forward. 5 years agoNot sure if it would be poor design, but what if you flipped the side of your sofa against the wall... to be on the side by your kitchen? That way you could center the TV more? and leave a walking path between the windows and the edge of the sofa?
Could you fit something like this for some extra seating behind your sofa? since your dining is close, it could double as a buffet.

And paint the back of the top niche wall, black, as well.

5 years agoWould a U shaped sectional look better in the room like the one below? I would probably flip it so the armless couch is by the kitchen. Thinking this may be more functional than the current sectional. Thoughts?
