Furniture Arrangement Help Please :)

Hello! I am struggling with furniture arrangement for my living room. I purchased a new sofa (sofa with bolsters) and am getting rid of the old sofa (sofa under the gold mirror). What should I put where the old sofa is now? Maybe a loveseat or two chairs? That wall is 122" long. The fireplace hearth juts out 22" deep x 64" long so it is hard for me to work around that. Do you think a coffee table or ottoman would work best? Is a rug needed? So many decisions! I would love for your input on what this room needs to bring it to the next level and if I'm on the right path. Thank you :)

Beautiful sofa. Can you move the old sofa to the den? Consider moving the gray credenza to the wall where the mirror is and moving the TV to that wall and lower. Then you could have some art of the fireplace and a better view angle.

A rug is needed to ground the space.

I like the chairs in this inspiration picture but two swivel chairs would be good in your room also. The mirror reminds me of your mirror. I like the small round table for you and/or some c-tables. You will need some patterned/textured throw pillows, too.

Sunshine, you could definitely put two chairs opposite your new sofa (great choice!). This would allow people to converse eye to eye. Would be a good balance. You have plenty of space there. A rug large enough to fit under the chairs and sofa would really warm up the space. The place where you put the new sofa is great because it defines / separates the kitchen from the LR. Well done! Forge ahead!

Is there another room that would accommodate the tv and associated furniture for better viewing? Dining, large bedroom, etc? Think about how each room would best be used by you. If this were close to the kitchen, I'd change it into dining area/flex space. A seating area by the window with tea-height table for snacks/coffee/reading/iPad while watching the goings-on outside. The space from the fireplace toward the doors look to have enough room for a rectangular dining table. This example is similar though I'd like arm chairs instead of a sofa. The best, centrally located space for the tv is the wall below the spindles or covering the firebox. It will still be challenging to arrange furniture around the tv with the room dimensions and obstacles.

To visually open up the room I would suggest lighter drapes close to the wall color without a pattern or with a self pattern. I would remove the stair ladder deal in the corner (they were a passing trend) and clear the TV chest of everything. Consider doing a grouping of pictures around the TV and above it to fill in that area and give the room some needed visual interest. Beverly's layout is very nice, although I've personally found that darker drapes tend to close in a room, but it's your preference. I would consider a rug an absolute must.

Pottery Barn has a room planner that I’ve found helpful. The only way I know to find it is google “pottery barn room planner.” It, of course, uses only Pottery Barn family of stores furniture, but a king-size bed is a king-sized bed. Do you know what size beds you want in your guest rooms? What about night stands? Chests? What is your ceiling height? How do you feel about light kits on your ceiling fans? Is it too late for heated floors in the bathrooms? I am kicking myself for not having them in my house.

Great ideas! I love the idea of two swivel chairs . Thank you for the rug suggestions as well, I was not sure if they were needed but I love having a clear, grounded space :)

I can't quite figure out where you would put a rug. It looks like the corner would go right into the fireplace.

tgt and deb, are you thinking a round rug?

Love the sofa and credenza! Maybe a big piece of art on the wall where the old sofa is now to balance out the fireplace and TV, with the swivel chairs under it? I think swivel chairs might typically be on the shorter side so they will need to be raised visually...
