Living Room Furniture Layout - Need Help Please!
Comments (7)les917 - the answers are no and no. No TV, and we cannot (and I don't think want to) move the fireplace. nanny2a - thanks, you are totally right. The coffee table is shown slightly in the wrong spot. I envision it being a coffee table sitting in front of the large sectional (hence wanting it to be the length it is). It will not be sitting in the center of the room like shown. Does anyone see any concern about clearance between the chaise and the fireplace (where one would walk to go from center of living room into the dining room). What kind of clearance do you think is needed/what is the max length and width I could get away with for a chaise/daybed in that area? And does anyone see an issue with the fireplace sitting in the middle of the room, and nothing really being oriented towards it? That is one of my primary concerns with the layout I've put together......See MoreWould you look at furniture Layout? Thanks
Comments (15)Hi, Yes, that's a lot of furniture lol. It would be helpful to see the rest of the room. I'd start by moving all the small pieces of furniture out of the way...just stash them in a corner for now until you've moved the major pcs. I'd put the sofa facing the FP and the two club chairs flanking the FP (each with end table off to the side)facing the TV. Coffee table in middle obviously. Take the long game table and put it behind the sofa for a sofa table look. Is there a reason the piano is angled? If possible, I'd put that flush on the wall and over a bit. With the TV...can you scoot that over more into the corner so that you're not seeing the backside from outside the entry? Lamps...anymore lurking about? What you can do with the drapes temporarily is take the inner panels off the two end windows and use those panels on the two empty ones; put the panels on the outer side of the windows. It's a good look when there's an FP in the middle. I'd take them off tension rods and buy new rods that will allow you to take them back off the window when desired. I'd probably do away with the knots and let them be FREE lol! Let them drop to the floor. Maybe try that and take some pix and we can go from there?...See MoreHelp! Where would you put lighting?
Comments (14)You could change around the island a little bit. You can have both some cans and pendants on the island, I would still do at least 2 cans maybe 3 if you really want it bright. This also depends on the size of cans that you want. If you go with 6" you can get a higher lumen output easier vs a 4". Most trims get a little more lumen output from a 6" vs 4". If you want it bright I would suggest you request a 900ish lumen LED trim vs the 600ish due to your 10 foot ceilings. I might arrange it like this. Blue dots are cans. Green are pendants. Purple are accent cans/directional cans maybe. Orange is a chandelier above the table. I might also center a can out in front of our ovens if they don't have internal lights. Also I'm assuming your hood has lights in it as well. You could also eliminate the purple cans above the buffet and do a simple ceiling light centered it the walkway there but I don't think I would. If you went with a 4 bulb light that you linked or similar I would probably just use that alone above the island. You can get a great deal of light out of a light like that but is even more directional than can so it is really bright on you counters but standing there you don't feel like it's bright. At the end of the day(literally haha) the amount of windows is pointless because the sun goes down and we still want the kitchen to be fully functional. You would actually be surprised how much light you actually get from a north facing window. I could put a light meter in there and you have 60+ lumens at the work surface but it just feels darker. I would have all the kitchen cans tied together on a swicth/3-way system. The pendants by themselves/3-way, the chandelier alone/3-way, and the buffet table lighting on a single switch by the table. Your layout is actually going to make switch placement a pain just do to lack of wall surface. Forgot to mention. If you went with pendants in this setup you could start with a dimmer bulb and more focus on the aesthetics of the light instead of the function....See MoreHelp with Furniture Layout in Compact Living and Dining area please...
Comments (4)Here's an option for you, Anastasia. It's got an apartment sized sofa and two petite arm chairs. The sofa would be no more than 72" X 36" and the chairs no more than 30" X 30". You may even be able to squeeze in an ottoman or two for a casual perch. Sofa is on long wall and flanked by the armchairs. The TV is between the patio doors and window. You can find a TV cabinet with doors, so you don't have to see the TV immediately upon entrance, if that's a concern for you. For the dining room, you could think about a 4' round dining table. It will comfortably seat four. The advantage of a round table - especially with a pedestal base - is that it's easier to squeeze in an extra person....See MoreJanice Tanner
