A question for Aloe propagators...
Comments (18)You guys got me excited about Aloes and blooms, so I went out to the green house, just a small building, to see if anything was in bloom..Voila, an Aloe, (I've had it over 4 yrs) so who knows its age, and some type of Kalanchoe. Please excuse the gh, it's a mess..I'd have cleaned today, but there's so much mud outside, running in and out is a big mess! Is Medusa a species? Is that the succulent that grows long stems? I think it might be a Euphorbia? Anyway, here's what I found today.. Yippee!! lol Anyone know what type of Aloe? Thanks, and again, please excuse the gh..spring will soon be here..thankfully, Toni...See MoreS.F. bay area Aloe barberae and....
Comments (8)The Dry Garden in Oakland. They at times also get Aloe barberae 'medusa' Aloe dichotoma(real chunky stemmed plants at a very good price)and I'm sure he could get Aloe 'hercule's' that I understand doesn't waste time getting big even here in the bay area. Maybe the Longs nursery in Oakland on Broadway might carry it on occasion. I heard they actually order plants for those serious on purchasing what they ask for....See MoreAloe propagation
Comments (9)I agree with mesembs, but there's nothing wrong with giving it a try. Since the leaf will die if you don't do anything, what have you got to lose? I'd love to see a picture of your plant. It sounds really pretty....See MoreCan I grow new roots on my aloe?!
Comments (4)Cut the stem off where it is very healthy white flesh and then put it in a dry shady spot and wait. a yellow nub will form on the cut stem. That is a beginning of a root. Their is enough moisture for the plant to live for half a year. Do not put it in soil till that nub has a bit of root growing on it. This can take a couple of months. Then I do not water till I feel resistance. One can mist the leaves. It is much easier to grow roots on a rosette than grow rosettes on roots... One can root the whole thing. NO problem....See MoreStefan
