Best way to use self-leveling underlayment on half of a room?

Hi all,

I am planning on using self-leveling underlayment to level out a sloped area of my floor before laying laminate over top. Half of the room is level, while the other half slopes slightly downward toward the outer wall (I'm attaching a basic diagram). The slope begins where a wall used to be, so it's a pretty uniform line across the room from level to not-level.

I understand I need to dam the outer edges where I'd like to contain the underlayment, but are there any ideas for how to get a smooth, level transition between the flat part of the subfloor and the place where the underlay begins? Would it be easiest to use underlay on the whole room, even though part of it is flat already? Any thoughts are appreciated!
