Since you do not have an island I would want a counter beside the fridge for loading in groceries and taking stuff out. The fridge closer to the sink is better. Is it possible for you to just post an actual detailed floor plan instead of this design. Is this kitchen located where there are no outside walls? I hope you have a counter depth fridge coming. Getting a new kitchen is amazing but you do want it to function well .

Like Patricia said, landing space beside the fridge. You'll kick yourself every time you bring home groceries.

Here's something to double check for: The fillers next to the range and the refrigerator need to have panels on both sides that face the appliances and the wall cabinet needs a return underneath that goes back to the wall. They're typically described as a base end panel with filler, wall box or wall end panel with filler. Here's a link to a Merillat spec book, look at page E34 for the base (BEPF3) and D24 for the wall (WB3).

Also, to support the cab over the fridge, you need panels that come out 24" or the cabinet will begin to pull off the wall over time. See page F8 and F9 for tall end panels with or without fillers. Since it's an overlay door style, you want a 1/2-3/4" filler on both sides of the fridge for the wall cabinets or the doors will scrape on the end panel or they won't open all the way. This is necessary when a wall cabinet butts up against a panel or cabinet that extends out farther than the wall cabinet.

You'll need outside corner mold to finish the corner of the peninsula and of course, toekick, shoe mold and I'd put three pieces of scribe mold.

What's the warranty like on this cabinet? The spec sheet you posted says the door stile, rail and center panel is MDF painted, which is something I'd avoid like the plague. The smaller doors may hold up OK, but the stresses on a large door like the one on the pantry are greater and those would be the ones that fail first. These are these HD stock cabinets, the kind you can just stroll in, load up and take home. DON'T DO IT! They're trash.

Unless this is a flip, get a cabinet with a solid hardwood (maple) door with plywood center panel. Make sure the faceframe is also solid hardwood. One way to save money and be able to fit this in your budget is to eliminate the pantry cabinets and go with regular wall and base cabinets.

Having said all that and before Sophie weighs in: These are cheapchinesecrapola! Use a kitchen designer! Look at the things that I noted, all can cause real problems if not done right.

The IKEA plan you posted includes additional space that isn’t in your kitchen plans right? It looks like there’s a door or window on both the top and bottom of the IKEA plan. More info, pics of the actual space and an idea of how the kitchen relates to the rest of your house would be helpful

The size of your kitchen lends itself to a classic U shaped kitchen. I mocked it up quickly to give you an idea what I mean. This is an Ikea plan...

If you'll be installing yourself, I strongly strongly encourage you to consider Ikea instead of Home Depot. The rail system is much more user friendly for DIYers to get the cabinets level and plumb.

I love my peninsula, don't want to lose it. I'm okay with it on the left or the right.

Do you love the peninsula because you actually sit there or do you just enjoy the expanse of worktop?

With the peninsula, it doesn't look like you have room for a proper dining table and chairs with walk around space. Are you happy with your dining area as it is? It seems with this size kitchen/dining one sacrifices a comfortable dining situation for counter seating.

I'm open to putting the sink in the peninsula.

Is resale a concern? Typically a primary/only dining area is 9 feet across at minimum. I didn't realize how important this was until we bought our first house with a small peninsula on one side of the kitchen and a 7.5' dining room with a slider on the other. What an absolute pain! It's one of the reasons we moved.

If your kids are small, maybe a temporary counter seating solution would be a better idea...

Is the "dining area" the same as the eat-in part of the kitchen or do you have a separate dining room?

The refrigerator wall is pretty and symmetrical but for utility I would have all the counter on one side of the refrigerator. The coffee center could be there with the microwave over it.

no soffits, they are going. I like the IKEA LAXARBY cabinet.

Is the garage thru the breakfast nook door? better yet, can you sketch out your house's floor plan so we can see how the kitchen fits in? A lot of people probably wonder why you have no window in your kitchen.

Are you closing the doorway next to current fridge?

Might conisder a range top and microwave and wall oven on same wall with fridge. Do peninsula with where it is now, make it wider and add sink there.

Have you ever thought to swap the kitchen and dining? Well, does the lack of a kitchen window bother you?
