mixing metal finishes in white kitchen

For a kitchen with bright white Shaker cabinets, I'd really like to include mixed metal finishes -- in silver and brass color. Here is how I'm thinking of mixing the finishes:

- silver color: stainless steel appliances

- brass color: pendants over island (Circa lighting's Grosvenor pendants in antique-burnished brass finish) and cabinet pulls/knobs (in Rejuvenation's Massey Drawer Pull/Knobs in aged brass)

For the kitchen faucet and accompanying kitchen accessories (soap dispenser, hot water dispenser), would you go with a polished brass or polished nickel or some other brass or silver color?

If we go with polished brass kitchen faucets and accompanying kitchen accessories, enough silver color in the kitchen to be balanced? Or ok that all brass except stainless appliances?

If we go with polished nickel or some other silver color for the kitchen faucets and accompanying kitchen accessories, any place else to bring in the brass color?

Any photos of other kitchens with these sorts of combinations would be helpful! Thank you so much!!

Go to Houzz Photos and search "Kitchens in Photos". You will see all sorts of metal mixing. Some will look good to you and some won't.

The brushed golds are really pretty and coming on strong in kitchens. You can mix, but with your pendants, I would be tempted to embrace the golds!

Another vote for the third pendant. Although, I admit I am one who has eyes that are very sensitive to seeing exposed bulbs through clear glass. Love the look of the edition bulbs, but they still bother my eyes. Plus an opaque glass will not look dirty quite as fast since it hides the bugs that amazingly get it there somehow. Urg! I like the dining room chandelier. I know it was just the background color for the photo, but I even like the navy blue wall color with your cabinets and countertops. On the cherry cabinet, I think my personal preference is the ORB color for the hardware, but like the other two style wise better. I think you can absolutely mix metals. Here is just one example I had saved, but I've seen it done in many, many beautiful kitchens. Do a Houzz search for mixed metals and you'll see a lot of good examples.

The large stainless won’t produce much light. The teal glass fixture will distort the colors in the room. Return them both. The first of the two lights you are considering is best. It is visually unobtrusive, does not distort the colors in the room, and is a clean simple style that will stand the test of time. The small amount of brass will not clash with other metals in your room. Alternately, if you want to match your metals, here is a suggestion:

Circa /Visual comfort Burnished brass works very nicely with stainless. Add nothing beyond that. Lighting and cabinet hardware in burnished brass, and appliances, sink faucet in stainless, or faucet also in burnished. It's all you need. No to polished nickel and the rest.

Polished nickel and stainless? same thing. Lovely. Two finishes are plenty. I wouldn't recommend polished nickel with brass/any gold tone, at all.. No.

Thanks everyone. So just stick with stainless appliances and burnished brass for lighting, hardware, and kitchen faucet?

Suggestions on burnished brass for kitchen faucet? I can’t find any (I don’t really like the Delta one in brass.) What about Rohl in polished (Inca) brass or will that not work?

Anyone else have thoughts on mixing the following? stainless appliances, burnished/aged brass for island pendants and cabinet hardware - along with polished nickel or polished brass kitchen faucet? Or need to stick with burnished/aged brass or stainless for kitchen faucet? Any photos of similar combinations? Thanks so much!

You can easily do the golds and have the brushed stainless for the faucet. Faucets are kind of in a separate world. If you want real punch, do the faucet in the aged brass! It will bring things up to a new level. But be prepared for some friends not liking it, simply because it is new and really on trend. I see this trend lasting for at least the life of your faucet! 4-7 years! Go for it! Notice the photo I posted with the deep gray lower cabinets and it shows the gold cabinet hardware with the white sink, stainless range and gold faucet! Awesome look.

Thanks. Suggestions on brands for kitchen faucets in aged brass? I haven’t seen many in brass. I like Rohl’s Inca brass but may be too bright? Thanks!

Go to a plumbing supply, locally. Look at California Faucet an Newport Brass. Plumbing industry changes far more slowly than lighting or hardware. Thus.... much depends on your style.

RH Modern ? Fabulous if you lean modern and want brass. However.... Mostly bath:)

You can usually order the different finishes if they aren’t on display. You’ll find some great options. Lighting was harder for me due to the large sizes I needed. The one I found had hefty price tags. I finally found some after months of searching.
