Kitchen finishes - mixing metals
I'm struggling with metals. I love antique and dark brass and am hoping to incorporate it into my open floor plan kitchen/dining/living room. We are in a lakeside traditional center chimney half cape. Floors are oak. Windows and trim are BM White Dove. Door and window hardware is ORB. Kitchen cabinets will be flush inset cherry and countertops will be Pentalquartz statuario pictured below. Appliances are stainless. I already have some aged and antique brass Hudson Valley and Northeast Lantern light fixtures I hoped to reuse in other parts of the house. I'd love to incorporate the dark brass six light chandelier pictured below over the DR table adjoining the kitchen. I need help with island pendant, cabinet hardware and faucet finishes. I want them to look coordinated, not necessarily matchy-matchy. I've included a few of the lighting and hardware styles we are considering. I've hard a hard time sourcing reasonably priced dark brass drawer pulls in 8" lengths, but plenty of options in ORB or polished nickel. If you have any suggestions about how to do this successfully, please share!

Comments (10)You can easily do the golds and have the brushed stainless for the faucet. Faucets are kind of in a separate world. If you want real punch, do the faucet in the aged brass! It will bring things up to a new level. But be prepared for some friends not liking it, simply because it is new and really on trend. I see this trend lasting for at least the life of your faucet! 4-7 years! Go for it! Comments (15)Yes, I have open concept. I have oil rubbed bronze on my front door. All the other doors are satin/brushed nickel. Kitchen faucet is stainless. The only bronze fixtures are in the open concept space. All the other lights are recessed or fans. Lamps are wood in one bedroom and Stainless in another bedroom. 8 years agoAnother vote for the third pendant. Although, I admit I am one who has eyes that are very sensitive to seeing exposed bulbs through clear glass. Love the look of the edition bulbs, but they still bother my eyes.
Plus an opaque glass will not look dirty quite as fast since it hides the bugs that amazingly get it there somehow. Urg!
I like the dining room chandelier. I know it was just the background color for the photo, but I even like the navy blue wall color with your cabinets and countertops.
On the cherry cabinet, I think my personal preference is the ORB color for the hardware, but like the other two style wise better.
I think you can absolutely mix metals. Here is just one example I had saved, but I've seen it done in many, many beautiful kitchens. Do a Houzz search for mixed metals and you'll see a lot of good examples.

Yes, not sure if faucet color is refered to as stainless, chrome, or what? But I think it might tie in better with stainless appliances then the satin nickel finish.
It will be so beautiful! Oh and you'll love that silgranite sink too. I have one and it is one of my favorite things in my kitchen.

8 years agoI've ordered samples of these pulls and knobs from rejuvenation. I like the warmth of the finish with the cabs and counter.
