Front door color suggestions?
Hey guys! I need some suggestions on a front door paint color :) We had a house fire in March and the whole house is being rebuilt/remodeled. We are at the painting stage and we need a paint color for the front door. I attached two pictures of what it looks like now (primed and ready to paint). I also attached a picture of what it used to look like before the fire. As you can see, the door matched the shutters, but I'm thinking I want to go with a more colorful option that can also be used on the other side of the door and won't look strange on the inside. I also think I'd like to keep the side panes white. The inside entryway color is Pale Oak by Benjamin Moore and the living room/kitchen, which you can see as you walk in, is Silver Strand by Sherwin Williams. I'm thinking a blue or blue/green exterior door is the way to go, but I'm not positive. The siding of the house is a dark tan/gray sort of color. Let me know if y'all have questions about something I haven't covered!

5 years agoI think a lighter teal color would look good with your siding color as well as the pale oak color on the inside. Also, a lighter coral would also match but not be too overwhelming for the inside.

Comments (3)Would you mind showing us more of the front of the house? My first thought is that a black door seems like an odd choice with navy blue shutters. Matching the door and shutters would have been a better choice. If not a blue door, then you need to play off the blue in some way. Red could work. Comments (6)I like something traditional like a dark red (SW Rustic Red) that would be used on the door, sidelight, and the frame on the sidelight window. You could then replace your lights with something larger and spiffier, add a larger colorful outdoor rug, and try some larger pots with flowers/plants. Comments (16)No, I don’t think it’s too dark, but it just depends on the lighting. You’d need to test it out. Colors can really lighten up with exterior light. It seems a dark navy could work best. I’m basing this on how the Storm Cloud Gray looks in your first pic here. For me, a dark navy could be nice....See More

5 years agolast modified: 5 years agono the navy won't clash w/the black, no it doesn't have to match the inside and really, any color will work. Coral is nice too, along w/the pink I posted. they all look great w/gray and black.
