front door opens into a living room, how to decorate??
Comments (6)Your diagram looks good. I'm not sure how you would like to use the space, so this may or may not be a good plan for you - but here is one option: I would anchor main sofa on wall where 2 chairs are in your diagram, and place the loveseat with back to windows (or if you have 2 settees of same size, would be similar placement) - and I would either do a console or perhaps electric fireplace on wall opposite door, with some art over it. If you need a tv in the space, you could wall mount it and cover it with art when not in use (and you could also put tv on an angling arm for more convenient viewing). If you are using a console you could flank it with the 2 chairs. However, if that is going to be a tv wall - and just generally speaking - it might be more streamlined with just the console, etc., if you don't need the extra seating. You could put 4 chairs with round table in current dining room - as another seating/conversation area, game room, music listening room, etc. Here is the general diagram/idea: And I would hang some sort of nice light fixture/chandelier, with a dimmer, in entry living room. Probably not this big... but this one is fun. ;) Hope some of this helps!...See Morearranging living room furniture w/ front door opens to living room
Comments (2)You might consider moving the sofa to be centered in front of the window and put the chair nearer the door adding a pony wall height bookshelf (with its back to the chair), with or without doors on the entry side, between the chair and the door to create an entry; perhaps something like this: http://thegamersforce.com/ikea-glass-door-bookcase/bookshelf-inspiring-low-bookcase-with-doors-bookcase-with-doors-ikea-dark-brown-bookcase-with-glass-glass-door-ikea-bookcase-singapore-ikea-glass-door-bookcase-ikea-billy-bookcase-glass-door-instruc/ A barrister style bookcase could also work. Such a room divider would give you a place to add a lamp to the room....See Morefront door opens in middle of living room-move front door?
Comments (3)I love the balance the existing door brings to your space. You could perhaps work around the furniture placement issue by floating some of the furniture pieces, rather than having them all along the walls. Comments (54)What will you forfeit if you change plans -- or drop out of Toll altogether? This is a gimicky plan, beyond the double doors and angled walls. Who wants a 'den' in a bedroom? Why are there so few windows? Who puts a closet on an outside wall -- that could have a window? All this mess with ceilings doesn't change the dimensions of the living space. Production builders are famous for this stuff. I'm afraid to ask to see the exterior of this plan -- all 'front' and stark siding all around -- as if anyone only ever looked at a house dead on from the front!...See Morehummingalong2
