Such a room divider would give you a place to add a lamp to the room.

Picking a white proved hundreds of times harder than any "color" for us. But you did pick one of the whitest whites around. Virtually any other white will be warmer just for fact of it having more tint to it. It will still feel nice and bright. PS ... it's white dove not dove white...

We are in the process of building and have a door in the center of the living space as well. It helped me to draw things out in scale on graph paper. Please forgive my very basic skills 😂 I have planned 14 x 18.5 for the living space,

I think you have the best set-up the way it is. I’m just picturing a busy family or if you were entertaining .... with some trying to watch TV, others going back and forth from the kitchen to dining table and back to kitchen, past the living area. It seems like it could end up being noisy and chaotic. I’d just rather have the living room further away from the kitchen. But you live there, not me ... you know best how your family would use the spaces. :)
