Master Bath Only Half Done. I'm Stuck.
Comments (3)I'd certainly stay away from anything (paint or counter top) that has even a HINT of pink in an undertone! the walls sometimes read pinkish on my screen. viewing the wall behind the vanity (reflection in mirror) does not read pinkish. It isn't unusual that the colors change with the change of the lighting tho. the mirror - that's a personal decision I think. whichever you like. I have a big mirror over my sink that I want to change - but it's old, cheap and ugly - lol! and it's also trimmed out in some tacky cheap wood. yours looks very nice tho. the faucets, lighting metal all look great to me. have you thought of another color to go with the green? I like purple with green myself. I have a comforter that is green with purplish in it. It does depend on the purple tho. maybe you should take one of your towels to the paint store with you and pick up some paint chips to check IN the room (for light changes)? the vanity counter now looks fine to me. Are you changing because you have to (changing sinks) or want to? A solid surface or granite would go nicely in there - just be very aware of the color, tones and undertones in whatever you pick out. I wouldn't go with a specific color like green granite in case you get the chance to change the bdrm carpet and want to move away from green. you could go with a green in paint tho - that's easy enough to change out if you switch away from the green....See Morehelp play paperdolls with my master bath!
Comments (19)haha, i get it. you guys don't like our tile. but it's done. we ordered it. and it's scheduled to be installed. the good news is we still love it! the mfr photos are much higher contrast than in real life. they're softer pale grays, beige, and aqua with the occasional darker gray pebble. everything listed as "a done deal" in my original post is truly a done deal. we've got a very good working arrangement with our builder. we don't flake out and change our mind and he keeps rocking and rolling to get us in. oh i should have referenced marji! sorry about that! the arteriors duke is a STUNNER!! sadly, this is my last light fixture to buy and i've already gone WAY WAY over budget, so i'm trying to stay frugal. i think most of them are going to come with the beads needing to be attached, but the first big pic is from world market. it's 24" wide and 36" tall and is only $269 (plus delivery surcharge). the petite one is murray feiss charlotte 3 light chandelier, and that too comes with the strands not attached. that one is only 18.5" wide and 20" tall ($179). not as glam as yours, but for the price, i'll gladly take the poor man's version. :)...See MoreNeed help with 15x15 master bath layout
Comments (39)MrsPete, that's an interesting point about taxes. I wonder what the difference is, for an additional bathroom? I don't know how much more taxes would run, but I'm sure it's different across the nation -- and it's subject to change. Maybe the OP's space could be configured as one bath plus a half-bath (toilet and sink)? Or a bathing area ... connected to a half bath. I am 75. I know NO ONE my age who still shares a bathroom with her husband. And they haven't for years. All the husbands have been kicked out to a 2nd bath in the house, down the hall. I'm only 52, but I don't know any married couple who does this. No one my own age. Not my grandparents, whom I lived with during my college years /while they were roughly your current age. Not my parents who are currently your current age. If one can afford a house that price, one can afford the taxes (how much could it possibly raise ones taxes to have one more bath?) and help to clean them. I don't think it's about being able to afford; rather, it's about using your resources wisely. Having more doesn't mean it's right to waste. But adding a second toilet to a master bathroom that already has two sinks, a shower and separate tub isn't going to result in it being assessed as an additional bathroom, and it isn't going to substantially, if at all, raise the property taxes. That makes sense from a tax perspective, but it still leaves you with an extra toilet that needs cleaning each week, is subject to breakdowns, and is only going to be used for minutes each day. I maintain it's a poor use of resources. Absolutely true. But resale is resale. And just because you think something is a bad idea, doesn't mean that everyone does. I am convinced that the majority of homeowners look at price and finishings rather than function -- but you're right: that's resale....See MoreNeed help with choosing TILE & PAINT COLORS for master bath
Comments (7)I was talking about picture #4 in my comment, above. It has the left hex and right (lighter hex) on the floor in the top row before the large format wall tile that I like that spans both the top row and bottom row of floor tiles. Looking again, I might prefer the darker, left side top row hex (beige hex) over the right side hex. It ties the shower floor in better with the existing floor tiles. For the blue cabs, it would help to see the colors next to the counter top photo. I am leaning toward Pool House. It depends on the wall color. I would not go with gray walls....See Moresuzyq53
