I think the colors currently on the walls work fine. I might suggest however that you remove all the small understated wall and sparsely spaced pieces replacing larger more intentional ones for impact. If you opt to keep the art and pictures on the walls they need to come down to eye level height. Rather than painting entire walls you could paint the transitional walls like a bridge (the one by the stairs and the one by the front door). You could go with a latte, coral, grey, or gold. I like the yellow you have, but your artwork has more blues in it. If you're keeping the rug maybe pull a blue or teal from that to inspire paint color. As for window treatments I'd do sheer light curtains, nothing too heavy since you already have heavier furniture and you don't want to take away from the beautiful molding and wainscoting.

I love your rug. I had BM Shaker Beige with some navy (but it never did look black) which was very warm. Maybe give that a try?

@ginatay124 I completely agree about the pillows. There is a throw in the basket under the coffee table, but it’s an ehhh one. The coffee table is fairly new but I did buy it used to refinish the top. I have a qt. of Urbane Bronze and I need to sand and paint it. Previously we had an upholstered ottoman. It is now downstairs because of water cups spilling on it, etc. Our daughter is 8 so this is just easier for now. Floor lamp is a definite yes but clueless there. My husband has said repeatedly we need one, but i don’t know what style goes and does’t look like an afterthought. Any ideas? We also will need new curtains because those are off white/beige. But I’ll buy white ones unless someone here says emphatically no 😜
