Thermadore 36' cooktop vs GE Monogram cooktop
Comments (5)I have a Monogram, and use the simmer feature all the time. GE's claim of 140 degrees is reliable (I use a Raytek laser gun to confirm). (One reason I beat hubby down on his insistence on Viking is that Viking wouldn't commit to a specific simmer temp.) I frequently use 1-quart pots....See MoreAnyone have GE Monogram cooktop and/or wall ovens?
Comments (12)withoutanh... If the date of your first service call to complain was within warranty, they have to continue to work on that issue until resolved, even past that warranty period. It's their fault the problem continued because their attempts and explanations did not resolve the problem. I think you should ask to speak to a supervisor at the store, and at GE customer service. Report the problem to the Better Business Bureau and renew your comments that it was defective upon delivery and their failure to cure the problem when reported is the only reason the problem continues to be reported after the warranty. So many companies try to shirk their legal responsibilities with this type of behavior and you shouldn't give up as they hope you do. Posting seems the only way to get satisfaction but that shouldn't be the only option. Try, try again! You are making me reconsider a choice of GE appliances, so thanks for posting....See Moregas cooktop - GE Monogram?
Comments (23)"I am taking the liberty of emailing you since I can't find much info on this BS cooktop. I am seriously considering it but don't know how it holds up and how it 'looks' after a ferw years. Would you kindly tell me how you like it now and if you would buy it again? Any repairs? How easy is it to clean daily and when you have a 'spill over' (soooo worried about this)? How is the Stainless Steel holding up (scratched, stained, hard to clean)? Do you like the knobs? Anything you hate / love about it? ANY input would be SO appreciated! Thanks so much! Vivi" Received an insite message from Vivi88, but I can't reply with email because the sender didn't let GW reveal the address. Have to come back to this topic and update in hope the vivi88 will see. - I like my Bluestar in general. I stir fry with wok ALL the time. BS has high BTU but it's still weaker than a real stir fry cooking would need I'm afraid to say. But this is as far as I can get for Chinese style cooking. - Spill over is a headache. I had to take the burner apart to clean underneath. The good news is it's easy to take part and put together. It's really simple. - Tiny oil drops splatters all over even with high raised wok. We put down foils in between burners to make clean easier. You'll definitely need a very powerful vent. We got Zephyr (the most powerful model). Then the vent itself needs serious cleaning. - Stainless steel holds well. Knob, is very essential. It is made of metal and you'll understand it needs to be that way when you use the range. The burner gets very hot while cooking. If the knob is made any cheap material it'd melt long time ago. They are easy to clean - just take them off and clean then put back. - I don't like the grate on top of the burner. Again it doesn't allow wok's bottom to sit firmly on. The grate is built with flat bottom pans in mind. Hope it helps....See MoreGE Monogram vs. Thermador vs. GE Cafe 30" All Gas Range
Comments (2)I have a Bosch dual fuel range (slide in) that is about 1" away from the wall/backsplash. I have never noticed it sticking out until I read this and then went to look, lol. It does, but if I've never noticed it, it doesn't bother me. The range itself is about 2 1/2" out from the base cabinetry. But I know what you mean if you want the 24" deep Thermador look. Personally, I would invest in an integrated refrigerator, using money saved from the Thermador and/or GE. The refrigerator is a much larger appliance and it's "sticking out" is more obvious than the counter height range. ("Counter depth" refrigerators also stick out; only fully integrated are flush.) I have 18" between the range and the next full height bank of cabinetry which includes a flush Thermador microwave/convection oven. The cabinetry sticks out 1" from the countertop and 2" from the 18" base cabinet farther than it should, a custom construction error I don't want to talk about. But that would be about the same as the space between your refrigerator and range if both "stick out." That 18" is good enough for my small Keurig and that's about it. It also has wall cabinetry above it because I used a hidden Zephry Pisa undercabinet range hood, so I don't have the "open" look you'll get from your range hood. That 18" of usable space is the same, however. We don't cook much at all (I hate it). I've had a Thermador dual fuel range and now this Bosch. Years ago, when I did have to cook, I had GE Monogram wall ovens and glass cooktop. Other than much preferring the gas, I can't think of major differences between all of them, or being unhappy with any of them....See Morekkfischer
