I did think of that option, and I found a paint that is almost exactly the color of the tile; for some reason though I just thought the tile itself would look prettier if the wood surrounding it was a contrasting color.

And please remember that photos of white kitchens are just a starting point. The light is really determining how they look. Photos of my old kitchen make them look bright white, but that is because they were photographed professionally in that picture. And they wanted it very bright. The same white will look different in each of our homes. I think you should go get the paint chips, bring to your house and look at with the counters there. If you are not in yet, then do not rush the color decision. It doesn't take the painter that long to have the paint mixed up! You need to see the color in your space in various lights with your granite. You cannot make this decision before you move in, or on a quick visit to the house at 5 pm. Ok? Take all the creamy white suggestions, go get the paint chips and then, when you are in there you will be able to eliminate probably all but 2 or 3.

Blondie2007, Using Twg's pic you've seen what some white paint (any shade of white) can do with a little prep work, patience and time. It's really not hard. And the end results are 9 times out of 10 so worth it! Actually, the hardest part for me when painting anything is the preparation (prep-removing hardware, door fronts, good cleaning, light sanding, good primer, etc.) of the item so that I get a really good, long-lasting, durable painted item. Personally, if you aren't happy with what you have, paint it! What have you got to lose? *smile* And there are so many people here who really know their stuff when it comes to painting and glazing cabinets so you'll be in great hands should you need some help or encouragement along the way.

Benjamin Moore Amherst Gray HC-167 I just picked one. I don’t know the exact color of your cabinets, floor, countertop, or backsplash, which would influence the color I would choose for the island. Or you can pick an island color that you love and choose the other finishes to coordinate. Personally, I would pick them all before I began the gutting. Good luck!
