I actually like the layouts. Friends of ours have a second home where from the front, it looks like yours - long porch with entrance to the house and the MBR set back with French doors to the porch on the left side. That part of the porch is hardly ever used, and when they're having guests and someone might use it, they just close the drapes to the MBR. Their porch is continuous all around the house. As for the master bath and closet,a I always thought having the entrance to the closet from the at broom made no sense...until I lived in a condo that had it set up that way and I loved it - it was very convenient to go right tp from the shower to the vanity to the closet and back to the vanity. I would personally eliminate the door from the master bath to the laundry, but I also don't see it as a problem if you think it would be useful. Re the coat closet, you might consider moving the powder room to where the vacuum closet is now, and put the coat closet where the powder room is and the broom closet where the coat closet was.

These are the kinds of things I would think about: --- Whether to do what you show as the slider wall, or do three linked panels where only one opens instead of the window + door. This gives the tall glass without having to allow room for both door swings. Other patterns may also work better. --- Whether it would look better to have the dining room opening also arched, but perhaps a little smaller than drawn. Would repeat a little of the new style in the older part of this house. If it didn't look ok in the drawings, then I'd consider whether I was trying to "thrown in" an arch at the new family room even tho it didn't match the house. --- Whether I needed those ovens to be right there or if they could be moved to the wall with the dining room opening. A lot of people use their ovens infrequently as compared to say the cooktop. It would provide breathing room at the cooktop as well as not feeling closed in by the wall corner and the ovens. --- List and weight the activities I wanted to happen in the former family room and think about how those would take place. I guess a clearer way to say this is to plan your needs and arrange your furniture first rather than just stick stuff in. --- instead of long skinny room I didn't know how to arrange, I wonder if it would work to add a wall between the entry space and the main room. Could get some storage, perhaps bulk-item pantry area and a cozier hearth room. --- I would also consider reversing the door and window on the main entry and make the new cabinets a bank next to the fireplace. The cabinet doors in front of the closet could open to a deeper version of your existing closet. --- It's difficult to tell clearances on an unmeasured drawing, but it's impossible on a 3d drawing. I wonder if your clearances around the island are enough for you? hth!

A few questions to help you figure our your approach: Why do you want to give up the natural light made possible by window? Is it for additional upper storage or are you on a zero lot line? If so, add clerestory windows above the cabinets perhaps if you have high enough ceilings. Curving the island, while nice, will cost more and you still need to be mindful of clearance for door to screened porch. The keeping room seems approximately 16 X 13. It's larger than the the breakfast nook and many would use it for seating/tv space. Do you have convenient private space for family time elsewhere? How much time do you spend at the sink vs the range/cooktop? Based on how you use them, you could flip the two though the sink is in a convenient spot from the breakfast nook. An angled pantry can easily go where the desk is, and if you prefer DO those could go the left of a counterdepth french door or SxS RF. I'd place them next to the relocated pantry and have more open counter near the entrance. If you keep the RF in its current location, agree about the end panel. Not sure why you need a deep cabinet for the micro nor do I like its location in the entrance. I think the kneewall may refer to the counter height bar on the island vs all one level curved counter, but the all in one is not the greatest in your configuration as you don't have enough room for adequate counter in front of the working sink/cooktop space plus seats plus door clearance. This is a case where an outswing door may help if you have enough room on the porch for furniture placement.

THANKS FOR THE PHOTOS, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND A BIG AREA RUG IN THE CENTER BECAUSE IT WILL UNBALANCE THE DINING CHAIRS EVERY TIME YOU USE. YOU CAN ADD A RUG UNDER THE CHAIRS IF YOU HAVE ENOUGH SPACE A FOOT REST WOULD BE NICE IN FRONT OF IT. SOME INSPIRATIONAL PHOTOS MIGHT HELP
