Axial curling of the leaves indicates you're not watering enough, and you don't want this to be a frequent occurrence. Bamboo like to be moist, although not submerged in standing water for extended periods. If you're not good at gauging soil moisture levels, get a cheap (less than $10) moisture meter at one of the big box stores. It sounds like you did a good job of planting...unless the depression will hold standing water in your rainy season. I usually plant my bamboo in a mound that is higher than the surrounding soil (easier to patrol for stray rhizomes) and keep things well-watered. As for new growth, it's possible that you may not see any new shoots for a year or two until the plants are established. However, if they're otherwise ok, you should be getting some new leaves in the next two months (check the very tips of the branches to see if there are any little green spikes appearing).

Congratulations on your new lucky bamboo plant. It looks like the yellow stalk has a green shoot on it. Is the stalk getting soft or rotting where it is yellow? It usually means that the stalk is dying when it turns yellow. If it starts to get soft or rot, you will need to cut it off. You may be able to leave the part of that stalk that is green and healthy and see if it is strong enough to form a shoot for you. Otherwise, throw that stalk out. You can attempt to root the healthy green shoot by dipping it in a rooting solution. You can also just put it in water to see if it forms roots. (This is if you have to cut off the yellow portion of the stalk.) The jelly stuff is a polymere gel that is reconstitued with water. The bamboos grow nicely in this base that holds water for the plant. You will have to add water to this gel as the water evaporates and as the plant takes moisture in from the gel. If the gel becomes discolored from algae growth or minerals from the water, you can remove it and plant your lucky bamboo in soil or just use water and pebbles. The leaves and shoots of the plants grow and continue to get taller. The stalks will stay the same where they are cut. Lucky bamboo like water. Be careful about using water that has chemicals in it. You may need to let the water sit overnight to allow the chemicals to escape. Do keep your plant watered to the level of the pebbles since you want to keep the gel moist.

I solved my issue, mdln. I sliced off the yellowing nodes with a sharp knife.dipped the tips in hot wax. I also have them in only water. (No rocks/gravel) so then there is nothing blocking the pores. Since making this post, I already see signs of new shoots growing. Good luck!

Your Pachiras are beautiful, wow! You're having amazing results with your "lucky bamboo" in water too. Very cool, never seen one get tall enough to need some kind of support like that. Dracaenas are sensitive to chemicals in tap water (that can't evaporate when water sits.) Using rain, distilled, or condensate from a dehumidifier or A/C can help keep them as healthy as possible whether in water or a pot. They're not an aquatic plant in their natural habitat, so if you'd like to try moving some to pots, I think you would be impressed with how they do, especially with more light, as suggested. Usually much more leafy that way (but the feng shui is compromised.) There's a lucky bamboo forum here, though a very slow and repetitive one, if you'd like to read more discussions about that.
