Comments (16)Center the rug with the fireplace. Take the bookcase out of the left corner of the room and put that in the space between the kitchen and FR, where the console table now sits. Move the sectional down toward the fireplace, (after centering the rug), add an end table to the outside of the chaise part of the sectional. Someone sitting there wonâÂÂt want to move to get a drink off the coffee table. Be sure there is a lamp there as well, to light that corner of the room. Move the armoire to angle in the corner where the sectional was sitting originally. Use it for storage, perhaps add shelving or even a pull-out shelf for a computer center which can be closed up and put away. The piece is very nice, and gives good height to balance the fireplace and high ceilings. For now, try the console on the wall to the right of the fireplace, and place the new flatscreen on that. Later you may prefer a more substanial cabinet, which can hide other components and store DVDs, etc. If you do that, then try the console table behind the part of the sectional that has its back to the kitchen. Add a comfy upholstered chair in the corner, a bit closer to the fireplace, where the armoire was, along with another small side table and lamp....See Morehelp with furniture layout for really oddly shaped family room
Comments (4)The stove is gas and we've never used it. I would love to tear out all the brickwork but the original chimney is walled off behind it so it would be a huge, expensive project if it's even structurally feasible. This house has a lot of projects and the main level is my priority so the wet bar will have to wait even though it would be great to have that done. Maybe I can find a slide to attach to the wet bar...they climb on it anyway...and then put the climber on the back deck if it will fit. My boys play outside a ton when we have snow, but 2/3 of the winter we have no snow and apparently it's not so much fun to play outside when it's cold, windy, and dry. We did have the room open for a playroom when we first moved in but then DH insisted on getting that sectional. I would have preferred just a couch and more open space. Maybe if I split the sectional up I can make the room more open again....See MoreFamily room - furniture placement suggestion
Comments (58)the upper right green is nice. so are any of the left column. whites are good. any of the prints except for that striped one, I like. I really like this one https://www.etsy.com/listing/1153775224/new-p-kaufmann-brissac-blue-floral-print https://www.etsy.com/listing/472418967/new-p-kaufmann-brissac-floral-print I'd mix this one w/the same color greens and blues. the print is good because it gives some variation. as long as the print pillows are in the same shades/tones as the solid pillows, it will work https://www.perigold.com/Loom-Decor--Hillside-Square-Cotton-Pillow-Cover-and-Insert-PLOOMROOFTOP-GARDENPOSY-GREEN-L1227-K~LMDE1229.html...See MoreFamily Room Furniture Placement
Comments (43)@Tamara Jensen I like Couch. Couch looks very well mannered in your family room. He should inspire good behavior there. And he looks like he can take a bit of rough-housing. I like the little boy in the creek. And it repeats the wood color. I like the other picture too. To make either "go" you can add some of the colors in accents. You don't have a rug yet. Or will you go "nekkid" as one poster wrote and made me laugh. I think it was from the movie, "Charlie Wilson's War". I have remodeled two spaces and the colors for both rooms came from pictures I wanted in there. Attached. With either of your pictures, you will need some light bright turquoise. What do you think of the one below? It would allow for lots of colors in your space. And look how awesome the grey dog looks in there; I think Couch would look just as awesome. https://www.rugs-direct.com/Details/CompanyC-Landscape-18862/145576#mz-expanded-view-488519675398...See Moreanita1212
