Designers and decorators, help me find this mystery sofa?

Design experts, perhaps you can help me. I am in need of a queen sleeper sofa for the occasional houseguest. About a year ago, my family stayed at a Marriott property that had a very nice one. It was unusual in that the mattress did not fold up like an S-shape and drop into the bottom of the sofa for storage. As I recall, you first flipped forward the seat cushions. Or maybe that you removed them and set them aside, I cannot now recall. I did not need one then! Now I wish I had paid attention.

In any case, once the cushions were out, the mattress itself pulled down out of the back of the sofa. It was not really folded at all. The back cushions remained in place, because they actually store the mattress. And this makes the sleeper sofa really nice for reading in bed, and watching television. Also, the mattress was a memory foam, very thick. The mattress had a lot of support under it, and there was no metal bar across the middle because of this particular design. I called Marriott, and they were clueless. I am sure corporate purchasing just sent it to them.

If anyone can help me identify what this kind of sleeper sofa is called, or who might manufacture it, I would be most grateful

Just reviving this old thread to thank MizLizzie for the prompt on the sleeper. I ended up investigating more, to buy one for our guest room/office. Eventually I determined Crate & Barrel also sourced from American Leather and offered a number of quick ship (and in stock items). It just arrived and when you pull it out, the mattress flat is co-branded with both names. West Elm also has a deluxe sleeper that appears to be the same thing. I also went to my local AL dealer to check out other frames and designs. AL seems to remarket under a variety of other lines, at different feature and price point tradeoffs.

As I'm very interested myself in finding a better-than-just-decent sofa bed myself, I just read through KS's link and I think the final agreement was, " The Sofa Sleepers are a custom sofa from American Leather. You were spot on." Now wondering what makes them "custom" versus what we can go into their stores and purchase!

Great inspiration pic! Love how comfortable and homey the room looks, but at the same time is very polished. I think mtnredux has that Lee sofa. Maybe she will chime in with pictures. I do remember others pointing out the slope to the back when she was first contemplating ordering it. Not a negative unless you need to put something behind it.

I think mixing warm and cool colors (i.e. beige and gray) is very tricky and very hard to advise based o n how colors on computer monitors display. On my phone your colors look quite differently from my laptop. For example, your sofa looks different on every picture, sometimes more gold, sometimes more orange, beige, or even slightly greenish. I'd probably go with an off beige or cream. Bunch of more pictures although the first three sofas don't seem to be mor epinkish brown. How about something like this? Accessible Beige or Agreeable Gray might work here and lots of cream, off white, beige, greige, warmer grays. Alternatively, would something like BM Quiet Moments or Healing Aloe? Or SW Sea Salt or a very, very light blue/gray? Probably wouldn't work with red, though. Maybe a outdoor rug and some metal art on the back wall. Paint a turquoise blue or some brighter color. Or a wreath even if you like them. I would definitely paint the entryway white or some other much lighter color to brighten it up. A colorful pot with dried flowers or pine cutting for fall/winter. You can paint a red clay pot with any acylic indoor or outdoor paint. It weather's off a bit over time and looks "rustic".

I like the pattern fine, although it is not one I would choose for my home! I am more traditionalist. What I do not like about those two: fringe, especially light fringe, gets noticeably dirty where it is in the walking path. The same goes for the light colored background. This will be in your main space, and in the walk path from front room to kitchen -- I would look for a version that minimizes the light colored areas. Unless, you have no problem with frequently cleaning it - it needs to be colorfast also. I hope you have a couple of days off now to recoup. I used to do eight 12 hour shifts in a row every month (for child care purposes), and often found that I was more prone to coming down with something afterwards. My unit has been converted into the COVID-19 isolation unit for the hospital.

Gooster, thanks for the follow up. We still haven’t ordered — we don’t close for 2 more weeks, and can’t decide which room the new sofa will go in. Can you share a link to the one you purchased? Love to see it.

This particular one does not leave the back cushions in place, however. They remove. It is still on sale. I chose it for the compact shape (width) and the ability for it to fit through a narrow door opening (more typical in a br/office). The legs come off but also it seems possible to disengage the back, if required, with some hidden bolts. The delivery people only had to remove the travel legs in order to slide it through the door (on end).

If you go with the AL version, my local dealer said the annual manufacturer's sale ends soon.
