Not Grey leaf spot necessarily, but what they call Leaf spot / Melting out. I don't know honestly it seems like dollar spot is pretty common and the symptoms are there so I'm going with dollar spot on this one. I receive my bottle of Honor Guard (propiconazole) but I have not applied yet. I've been researching but there are some questions I have still, such as the best time to apply, in the morning when its cooler or during the day? No instructions on this that I can find. Also not sure really if I should just spot treat or treat the whole lawn. The recommended rates are .5 oz / 1000 sq ft for dollar spot. Any suggestions on the above questions? The Conditions have been pretty warm and dry, yesterday I took a moisture reading from the dollar spot areas and they were toward the beginning of the "wet" (#8/10 on the soil master meter I have). This area is where the run off goes during heavy rain and gets shade half the day from the house so it looks like too much moisture is the issue here. Also this is the area i seeded later in the season so when you part the grass you can still see straw that is still only partially decomposed which is probably retaining moisture too. There are other small areas in the yard with symptoms but this area is the worst.

Option 1: Ordinary corn meal from your local feed store. Option2: You can try spraying with milk in a hose end sprayer. Set the dial for 3 ounce per gallon and tray to put a full 3 ounces on per 1,000 square feet.

Read the label on any fungicides you use. Read especially the part about the temperature for application. In MA it would seem like any time would be fine, but you don't want to do it on the one day of the year when it was too hot. You should be able to water one day per week and maybe one day every 2 weeks up there. With one hour per day I am surprised you have any grass left at all. Put out several cat food cans to measure the output of your sprinklers. Over the years we have worked out that one inch per week is a maximum requirement for 95% of homes in the US. Exceptions are the desert area west of Junction, TX, east of Indio, CA and south of St George, UT. Fortunately that only affects about 200 people (snicker snicker). If your temps are from 80 to 90, then you should be able to get away with watering every 2 weeks. All this depends on humidity, wind, shade/sun, clouds, soil type, soil depth, grass type, grass height, density, etc. It is much easier to watch the grass for signs of getting dry and then water. Eventually you will work out a schedule that works for your combination of factors listed above. During a normal summer for my house in San Antonio I water 3 hours once per week. During the extreme droughts we've had there will be about 4 weeks where I have to jump up to 7 hours per week, but I still do it all at one time. In the stinking hot desert with sand soil, they might have to go to watering once every 4-5 days.

I have vast areas of garden covered with Vinca (periwinkle)which have been very healthy for years. In the last year, a bug or fungus, small raised brown spots on the underside of the leaves, has been spreading quickly. The leaves curl and the plant does not grow like the healthy ones - it doesn't spread and cover ground it grows straight up and after a couple of months - it turns brown and dies. I have been unable to identify what this is and how to deal with it. Can anyone help? Thanks
