Are you quilting this weekend? July 13-14
Comments (17)Sorry to hear of your grandma's passing vacuumfreak, but think it is great that you are carrying on your family's needle-arts tradition. I spent a few hours earlier this week with my favorite S-I-L designing quilt labels on her computer that she is going to embroider for me soon. That was a lot of fun. Each time we do this she tries to teach me a little more about how to do it - I still have a lot to learn. I am working this weekend on my friend Christy's grandbaby quilt, have completed the first 2 rows and am about half way done with row 3, there are 5 rows of blocks total. So hoping I get all the hand-quilting done for it by the end of July. Our RV trips earlier this summer were fun, but am glad to be home where everything I need to quilt and crochet is easily accessible and I have more time to spend on my hobbies when we aren't traveling. We need rain so bad here in central Louisiana, our grass is brown and dying. I had to water my large back yard flowerbed for the first time yesterday evening since my pink dinnerplate hibiscus was not producing viable seed pods. Hoping we get some rain soon. Best to you, Sandra...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Dec. 14-15
Comments (7)I hope to finish what is now what I refer to as "the Leddy quilt". All that's left to do is quilt a border seam and the binding. I pray I get it done. Then on to 4 stockings for my daughter and an apron for my SIL. Did I mention I need to finish shopping? However in spite of all the sewing I need to do, today I'm going with my dear Marine hubby as he plays Gunny Claus for military families at Camp Lejuene, NC 20 miles from our home. This is the first year he has done it and he loves it. Tonight is my first night going. So sewing will have to wait. Gunny Claus has priority tonight. Darlene...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Comments (13)Just finished sandwiching two quilts. My knees are objecting to the hard kitchen floor. Do you think a memory foam floor would work? Question: At what point do you decide on your quilting pattern? While you are piecing? When you sit and look at the sandwich? Or somewhere in between? Since I don't fmq, it has to be pretty much straight line designs or echo or outline. And depending on the size of the quilt, how much twisting and turning is doable. Just wondering! Now I am going to take a book and sit on the deck! Theresa...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? July14-16
Comments (11)No quilting for me. I am trying to finish the landscaping from last year's front porch renovation. It started in July and we got the final inspection from the city in January. Contracted with a landscaper in April to redo the sod since the front yard was destroyed and he finally got to us in late June. The concrete people (also contracted in April) had a cancellation and were able to pour our lawn edging last week (3 weeks early - yeah!!) Hubby rototilled the areas for plants and I have been to the nursery three times, but the bulk of the plants are in. I am now moving tons (and I mean tons) of rock to fill in the plant beds and hope to finish it this weekend. I have the drip line laid out, but not hooked up until I finish the rock. I will still need to get a cubic yard of dirt for one planter, but that is a lower priority. Would love to sew, but this has been a year-long project and I can finally see the finish line and hate to quit! I will think of all you lucky quilters as I move more rock!
