built in / wall oven electric outlet position and height??

need help about a built in / wall oven.
Doing all the electric plans myself for the kitchen and just need some advice from either electricians or just someone who has had past experience with the following questions:

Where do you put the electric plug outlet for built in/wall ovens to ensure that it will fit properly and not protude out because of the plug in the back? What height? directly behind the oven or in cabinet next to it?

one oven will be below the stove top and another oven just as a wall oven on it's own.

Same question about electric plug for built in gas stove top and also the gas line. Want it to cause minimum interference with the drawers below it. another stove top will be above one of the oven mentioned above, do also, where should I put the gas line and plug socket?

Thanks, any help is much appreciated.

yeah it doesn't help. also we will have a new oven by then so it's really a generic question for all I've and stove tops.

My KD originally had the oven down lower - I wanted it even higher but with the Advantium over the oven - this was as high as I could make it. I am so happy that I pushed to have it as high as possible - it is a nice height and allows me not to crawl on the floor to see what is happening in the oven. In retrospect - I might have considered swapping the 2 ovens - with the speed oven below - but the advantium has to be counter height or above. Also, unless a MW drawer or speed oven has a remote control to operate it, I think it would be awkward to use below counter height. I would love to have french door oven doors or a side opening option but with the easy glide racks - not really a problem. I also slide my Boos cart in place for a second landing zone when doing lots of baking.

I have horizontal outlets. It was actually my electrician who suggested they be installed horizontally--he said they look better that way. Also, my electrician said that local Code specified they be a minimum of 4" from the center of the outlet to the countertop, although I understand Code varies by region on this issue. I find the height excellent since it is unobtrusive, I can easily hide the receptacles behind the paper towel holder, coffee maker, etc., but not be nervous they are so close to the counter (though the ones on the sink side of my kitchen are all GFCI so I guess that shouldn't matter). I only have one switch; it is for my undercabinet lighting--my disposal is a batch feed style disposal which does not need a switch. My light switch is vertical and set higher up than my receptacles. I've never noticed, or thought that it looked weird to have two different heights, with one vertical and the rest horizontal. But maybe cause I only have one switch. IMHO you should do what you can to install the receptacles lower and horizontally, so as not to interrupt the middle of your backsplash. Note: this photo shows my receptacle that is on the opposite side of the kitchen from my sink, so it is not GFCI.

It wouldn't let me type. Sorry for the picture with no explanation. Yes BS told h that location was good. In reality, the electrical must be beneath the stove. Here are some more pictures. Old hole and new hole below supports, so below where oven will sit. Aso note that the tiny supports supplied with the cabinet were not near enough. DH built this Saturday after we realized the weight. Hole in back right for electrical to run from stove to underneath where it will connect with house. The oven comes with a big square box on the end of the electrical wires. DH removed it to cut a smaller hole in the support platform. Underneath support board Installed. Note the lip around entire oven that stays outside of cabinet. Finally, the doors open AND CLOSE with one hand on the left side only. They are VERY stiff. Dealer says they will loosen up with use, but closing the door feels like you may break something, you have to push so hard. Hope this is helpful. DH is out of town now so I have to wait until the weekend for electrical hookup.

thanks to all . the width of the opening is 30 inches but the depth to the back wall is only 25 inches and this would seem to limit our options as alot of the ovens are deeper and if we got a deeper oven it would stick out alot. Also if it sticks out too much it would affect our ability to open the drawer to the left. However , not sure if this is an option but the back wall abuts the bathroom but it seems there is extra space there for me to open up that space but then I don't think it would look very good to have part of the back of the oven under the wall. ?? I do think i will cut the corian lip in front so i can use a slide in option thanks again for your advice gary w

You have to place it where the manufacturer of the specific items tells you to place it. It’s manufacturer, and even item specific. Down and left, or down and right, are the usual suspects with a range. Best to pick a brand now and figure out where they say.

Then leave a lot of slack in the run, so you can move it later if you change makers. That’s a fairly common happenstance. Or, leave a junction box somewhere close, instead of slack, so you can replace just a short run if it needs to move.

I appreciate your comments. I am replacing an existing stove which has an outlet mounted about 7" off the floor and centered in the opening. The new range. A GE, expects the outlet to be mounted on the floor and apparently to one side or another. . I just spent an hour to locate a saw to cut the wire out of the wall where it was installed in a 3/4 hole drilled thru a joist. Just a LITTLE bit of standardization would really have helped. Where is NEC when they are really needed?

Are you sure? Most GE/Profile/Cafe ranges allow the electrical outlet to be placed low on the wall (e.g., up to 7-1/2" above the floor) or on the floor within a few inches of the wall.
