Shaping Ficus Elastica / Rubber Tree

Hi everyone,

One of my rubber trees had been growing very happily in a corner with floor to ceiling windows (North and East) and while I do try to remember to rotate my plants every once in a while to get even growth, one of its 6 branches has somehow managed to grow much faster/longer than the others.

I've recently had to move it to an East facing window to make room for some other plants, my question is: If I want to encourage the other branches to catch up, should I have them face the window so they get more light or should they be facing the living room so they try to "reach for light"?

Also, what will happen if I prune the longer branch right above a node? Will the tree branch out from the sides at that location? In general, how do I encourage branching?

Note: I dragged the plant in front of a white background to take pictures, this is not where it lives.
