Need pattern ID on Noritake china set from occupied Japan!
Comments (39)Yes, this is the Lynbrook #4724. I own this exact set as well. From looking at your pictures I am missing a couple of pieces that I didn't know about, so thank you for the post. If you look on the bottom of the coffee cups, the name of the collection and number is printed. I know I know your going to be thinking you did all that research and you had it there all along, I speak from experience. The pattern identification is only printed on the coffe cups. A little more history to you occupied china - These piece were stamped "occupied" during World War II while America occupied Japan. These products were made for export purposes. It was actually a law that the pieces had to be identified as "occupied". On some of the older piece, you may see were the occupied Japan stamp is a different color than the Noritake stamp, this is because the occupied stamp had to be added to pieces that were produced before the passing of the law. After the signing of the Peace Treaty, the law was demolished; therefore, the occupied stamp was no longer used. If your coffe cups do not have the "Lynbrook 4724 stamp" will you please let me know, because mine do and I would like to be certain that they are original pieces. Thank you...See MoreWhere to sell Lenox crystal?
Comments (3)Thanks! I will run it by the kids but I donÂt see them being interested in these. Anyway I have my MomÂs and my GrandmaÂs, both nicer, to divide up if they should be interested someday (2 kids, should work out! Though they are 18 and 21: it might be a long wait). Thanks for the Replacements site. Now I know the name of my pattern, "Antique", and know what they sell it for. Also found out my "wine" glasses are not really wine glasses, but champagne/sherbet glasses. Good for marketing!...See MoreHelp! Buying first set of china
Comments (61)I have decided to get the royal Albert lady Carlyle mainly because the tea cup is so cute and a lot more feminine looking than the noritake one plus the pattern is so beautiful! I had my eyes on this pattern for a while now and i thought it was discontinued but to my surprise it was still sold on the royal Albert website for even cheaper than ebay!! thank you for all your help! I can't wait to have tea parties with my girlfriends:))...See MoreChina/crystal on display?
Comments (29)You're very sweet-thank you. It's pretty funny because almost everything we own is old, used, hand-me-down, etc. I do design work, but most of the people I work for prefer a more transitional, or stream-lined look. I LOVE my "stuff". When we moved here, the dining room was a huge issue for me. I'd give up my living room before my dining room-we use it! There's actually an interesting (to me) thread on the BAH forum about whether a separate dining room is necessary. That would be a deal breaker to me. Anyway, I needed somewhere to put the things I use so often. Our previous home had huge built-ins. I couldn't find anything old that was large enough and while looking for a pair of family room chairs for my hubby I came upon these at Rose Furniture in High Point. They are Thomasville's Bogart Bunching cabinets. They are simply huge curios that can fit together. We never buy new from furniture stores, so we really thought about this. Rose's had been there forever with a great rep and we found family room pieces my husband loved, so we bit the bullet. So here's what happens: when we got close to the promised delivery time, I called the salesman and asked for an ETA. He informs me that the cabinets had arrived, but everything else was still "en route". He said they'd deliver everything together when they had it all. Being the patient individual I am (NOT!), I told him I wanted the cabinets delivered (I had paid in advance for EVERYTHING!). He wasn't happy, but I had them the next day. 4 days later Roses's declared bankruptcy. No orders being filled. Anyone who placed an order was out of luck. We ran up there with receipt in hand and stood around with a bunch of other people who had pending orders (one poor man had furnished an entire house to the tune of 60,000 dollars). We were instructed to go out on the floor and find something-we had to LITERALLY carry it out on the spot-no holds. We were driving a Malibu and lived 90 minutes away. We basically lost everything we had paid for a couch, loveseat, and 2 leather club chairs. The only part of our first retail furniture store order that we got were those 2 cabinets because I was being "impatient"! They have since been discontinued and our family room has been pieced together (not what I wanted, but someday....) So those cabinets have a story and are special to me. By the way, this is what we took off the floor. My poor husband walked out with this clock on his back and we drove all the way home with it tied to the roof of our car!...See Morebec5656
