Who is sillier, the designer or the customer?

This is beyond disturbing.

"High fashion" is always lost on me.

When there was the thread about hideous men's clothing, I did some Googling around and discovered very ugly clothes were popular at the high end of the market because of ..... Instagram. Those incredibly ugly Balenciaga sneakers that cost a fortune were used as an example, Apparently they stand out well in IG posts. They embrace the ugly. I learned about those sneakers on Ralph Rucci's IG. His rant against them was epic and is quoted often in the discussion about this trend. Mr. Rucci is not a man who tolerates ugly in any of its incarnations.

Hey I have a pair of those long yellow rubber gloves (2nd video 40 second mark). I use them in the winter when I have to clean the pool. Never realized they were high fashion. :o

After actually watching some of that, what is the actual purpose of the extreme fashion show? Is it intended to draw the eye to look for something normal? I’m actually somewhat curious

I couldn’t bear watching the entire 8-something minutes. Is Paris expecting a lot of rain? Snow? Alien invasion? The shoes looked almost alike, and somewhat like modified ski boots.

The models looked like angry robots trying hard to do the ‘model walk’ down the runway in those shoes, and some of the fashion reporters looked like they were trying not to laugh. Heck you couldn’t pay me enough to walk down a runway in that stuff.

They are selling sunglasses and perfume to the masses via those shows and the press they generate- somehow- don't ask me how. I worked in the fashion press for a short while in grad school.

Yoga pants and scoop neck L/S tee? I'm there.

Thank you for a light-hearted moment today. I only made it through about 3 minutes of the first video. It reminded me so much of the original Blade Runner movie...be prepared for acid rain.

I'm not going to Paris soon. Maybe they will change before my next trip.

I don't know how those runway models keep a straight face.

I don't understand the "Marley's Ghost" look (the white bandage wrapped around the jaw.

I don't understand why anyone would stuff their arm through the middle of a rolled up sleeping bag and carry it around.

I wonder if the models felt as stupid as they looked.

A number of the models in the first video seemed to have trouble navigating the turn. I wonder if it was the shoes.

I only saw three things in the first video that I could imagine on a real person.

Men's collection:

Clothes for people who don't want to use their arms!

I could get onboard with some of the men's jackets.

While I don't think the men's sparkly shirts will go mainstream, I kinda liked them.

They could be carrying assault weapons in some of those bags.

Corsets should be off the table for both genders.

The men's collection was 100% better than the women's.

Wow, most of the men seemed to be wearing smaller sizes than the women and some looked quite anorexic. They seem to be marketing to a very small specific group, because I just don't see most men wearing skin tight pink plastic pants, a corset and heels ...

But Lars, do you have gold lame cowboy boots? Surely you do.

I understand that the shoes and the purse should match, but I think the bedazzled white purse is a little off with the ski boots and Hefty sack.

I love the audience expressions in the still of the womens' show.

Thanks for the BELLY LAUGHS!!! So the question now is what and how will this actually influence street wear? The heavy teen kicks I was sure were OUT last year. Please don't tell me they will come back!

The only cowboy boots I have are black crocodile (with ribs showing) that I bought at a boot outlet the last time I was in Tuscon, but I almost never wear them. Still, I had to buy them while I was there, just in case.

I used to live in a theatrical commune in San Francisco in the 1970s, and so wild costumes are not so unusual for me. I also used to wear plastic bathtub toys as jewelry back then, and I've made costumes out of zebra heads (which I got from our upholstery department).

I think performance art is apt. As i see it, there are colors or moods or elements that will wend their way into "normal" fashion.
