OutsidePlaying, your tree looks like it could be an Indian Marker Tree.

An Indian marker tree is a tree that was purposely bent over as a
sapling and held in a bent position by tying down the tree usually with piece of animal hide. They were used by American Indians as markers to help them find water sources, campsites and other important locations. Sort of like today's modern signs. I read about these a while back and when I saw your tree that was the first thing that came to mind.

I was going to say, where else would the dogs nap :-) Maybe my bed or the sofa, we have big dogs!

Dawn, I thought the same, but there were so many mis-shapen trees nearby I wasn’t so sure. You can almost see another off to the right. This one was particularly odd. Maybe it was one. I just wasn’t positive.

We had one I am quite sure was an Indian Marker Tree at our lake house when I was a kid and young adult. We always sat on it, played on it, took photos by it, etc. We sold that lake house several years after my parents passed away and I’ve always wondered if it is still there. It was well-known and documented Indian traveled area and campsites because of the river.

Our animals are on any and all furniture. The only thing I really don’t like is the cat on the kitchen counter.

Dang, socks! We're having lovely weather in the high 80's in my area, but the forecast says we'll be in triple digits by the middle of next week. I'm enjoying it while it lasts!

Interesting about the marker tree near your lake house, OutsidePlaying. We have a rock in our garden that appears to have been used for grinding acorns.

If there were several of them, that's probably not what it was then. Makes one wonder how they got there. Deep, heavy snow might do something like that.

PK, I did go out for a few minutes to put some water on a couple suffering plants. I could feel the sun burning my legs and felt too hot when I came in. MSN weather actually says it's 119. I've lived in So. CA all my life and have never seen it this hot. Some of my plants are covered, but some will probably die. Humidity 10%.

I've been going out at 6 am to water plants ( not grass- I can't afford that too!) Not only are we having triple digit heat index off and on, we are having a drought. Even going out that early I came in soaking wet. By afternoon I was a little dizzy and fuzzy headed. SO I am drinking lots of water. Funny how it creeps up on you.
