I've often thought of doing that, but haven't yet. One rose that looks just full of petals is The Pilgrim, but I don't know. My one and only bloom of WS2000 on a brand new band had so many I didn't realize it wasn't fully open until after I cut it.

hi angela-rose, this is just my .02, but it's possible that the foliage on your hydrangeas is turning brown and flaky because they're maybe getting too much sun throughout the day. last fall i hastily transplanted my hydrangea to an area that gets full sun, and it didn't put out any blooms at all this summer - not even any buds! i noticed that the edges of many of the leaves are brown. i think the over-exposure to direct sunlight is causing them to become a little crispy. so i'll probably find a new spot for them again this fall:) take good care, bobby

It's like random petals on the inside and I'm trying to remember if it was the whole petal, but I think it was partial petals in a vertical kind of occurance. ie one whole side of the petal is brown, like it has rotted, but the rest is just kind of weak and blows easily. I'm guessing too much water...maybe I need to raise the pots so the water drains better? minibot

My Eden, also own-root from Heirloom, blooms its heart out in Spring and has recently started repeating in a second large flush. The upcoming summer will be its fourth. Does it get optimal sun? 2) How are you fertilizing it? Does it get too much nitrogen, which can cause lots of growth at the expense of blooms? 3) What is going on with your other roses? Do they all bloom as much as you would expect? Could there be rose midge involved? 4) Where did you get it? Could this be a clone that is virused? 5) How does it do for others in your area? Might this be related to the winter not getting cold enough for this rose to bloom really well? I hope you can troubleshoot it, because this rose is really a stunner once it gets going. Every year I tell myself I will get rid of it because it has no real fragrance to my nose, and every year it is more beautiful. I can't bring myself to dig it up. Good luck!
