How to make my house modern/ paint color ?

I have yellow/orange brick and chocolate brown siding. I am getting garage doors done but the house does not have a curb appeal. How to get the house to look bigger. Should I paint the brick or can you suggest a color that might go with the brick

The contrasting horizontal lines of wood trim are squashing the house and making it look smaller. The fence and bushes are holding it back too. What are the garage doors going to look like? The wood trim is a good feature & does look like it matches the brick, but the chocolate looks almost black, rather than like the spots on the brick. Any possibility of replacing the rock/stone retaining wall with more of the wood? A nice curved wall of that would help a lot. Could it be attached to a curved concrete wall? The horizontal lines would look great as low open fencing too.

Looks like your wood but maybe a bit too high for your place.

I think the interior is well on the way to transitional. The kitchen cupboards are the most modern thing I see and the doors could possibly be switched out to something more your style. Otherwise, "transitional" is largely a matter of decor and fabric choices. For the exterior, it's a shame that it's not what you love, because it's gorgeous!

Paint the end wall. That's actually a very modern look, quite popular right now. People are taking out attics all over the place for a higher ceiling/higher utility bill/less storage. Painting the ceiling and leaving the beams wood is also trendy at the moment.

of the colors you have in your photo, try the likeable sand. I think it would blend better with the stone. Paint the front door a fun welcoming color, but paint the garage door the color of the house. I like your home, too. Hi Jan, I actually do have a consult with an architectural firm today to discuss 'the plan'. I wouldn't dream of touching anything that requires professional precision like hardscaping. I was merely asking for some ideas so I don't go in blind; hence I said 'tweaks and large projects'. Also, I can do some tweaks on my own; I don't believe painting trim or hanging house numbers requires anyone else other than myself.

Gray will work with your orange brick. You have to get rid of the picket fence because it doesn't complement your home.

This is framed Hog Wire Fence if you need something you can see through.

Here are a variety of MCM style fences. They can be tall or short but they are custom made.

This color scheme will work on your home.

@decoenthusiaste , for garage i am told to do flush panel as the opening is not leveled so any window or design on door would look crooked. Good idea on retaining wall. I am not sure what you mean by "Could it be attached to a curved concrete wall? The horizontal lines would look great as low open fencing too."

@BeverlyFLADeziner can you recommend me the exact shade in behr or sherllin williams as there are so many shades. I thought it wont match the orange bricks and to do a lighter or darker shade of the brick.But i do love grey.

OK so the brown siding is on the diagonal. What's going on with the framed overhangs? That looks to have new stained siding installed. Is that a recent installation? Was there a purpose for framing the overhangs?

@BeverlyFLADeziner there was vertical siding with yellow color that was in bad shape so a contractor removed that and put horizontal siding on top. Below was just a car shed , to put garage door the contractor did the bottom horizontal siding to match the top. yes they are new and the chocolate is diagonal siding

The shed was in rotting state which the contractor fixed and to put garage door he added the horizontal stain siding

OK I've changed my mind about how to approach your home. There are lots of details that have been fabricated on this house that I would change, but to get you over the finish line here is what I suggest. I think the key word here is SIMPLIFY.

I would consider painting the complete home a soft greige gray color & select dark greige for the simple garage doors. Here are some colors from Sherwin Williams

I tried to see what your home would look like if it was a light color & I think that grey/greige color could really update the appearance.

Also would light olive green or light orange(to match brick) work for the rest of the house?

I guess I'm recommending painting or staining the whole home. BTW you can stain brick white.

Attaching "it" (the wood) to a curved concrete wall (so that the dirt can still be retained behind concrete) and you won't have erosion or damage the wood.
