Guest bedroom remodeling Do's and Don'ts
Comments (42)raehelen, Congratulations with starting you project! Starting the project means 50% of work is done, just don't forget to multiply estimated time by three! Thank you for the link. Believe me or not, but I prefer old fashion toggle switches, they are more convenient and are easier to handle in the dark. I will replace bathroom switches with the fancy ones anyway but for another reason, I have a z-wave network at my home that allows to control lights, locks and other stuff but old fashion z-wave toggle switches discontinued and only rocker z-wave switches are now available. When you turn lights and fan in the bathroom on, Z-wave controller will automatically turn them off after 20-30 minutes. Very convenient feature. Good luck with your project, have fun!...See Morefinalizing lighting in a guest bedroom, advice ;-)
Comments (9)On the whole, I really like your guest room. When it comes to reading lamps, though, I'm totally hardcore ;~D. I want ~ I NEED~ good, proper-sized, 3-way reading lamps for each person. Although I like your present lamp, I agree with Graywings, that dual, wall-hung lamps would be better. I've always disliked lights on fans. As GW's has already mentioned, they tend to cast a harsh light in the room at night. I do like your ceiling fan and think you should keep it or another similar one. Love your beds, too! Lynn (who's heading, in just a few days, to her sister's home, where the hosts are fantastic, the food, sublime . . . and the guest room lighting is soooooooo pitiful, harsh and inadequte, all at the same time!)...See MoreAmericana (ish) Guest Bedroom
Comments (10)Nothing says Americana like a quilt! Since you already have your bedding, a quilt can be a decorative piece. It could hang on your wall, or be tossed over the back of a rocker. I see those wall quilt racks in thrift shops and at garage sales all the time. Here, I'll post a few images for inspiration. And Neutral beige, warm browns and harvest gold are the calling cards of primitive Americana home decor, with red, white and blue used as accent colors.Have fun shopping!...See MoreBedroom Advice for king bedding and curtains/drapes/shades
Comments (14)For your draperies you will need to measure the height from bottom of your crown moulding to the floor. Get panels that are as close to that measurement as possible. For a chair I think you need to go with a much smaller scale and it needs to be relocated to where the TV currently sits. There isnt enough room where your current chair sits to house one. As far as color I would pick up the linen color of your head board then accent it with a couple pillows to pick up on your bedding. For example if you should choose the bedding I showed....... using a throw at the foot of the bed or on the chair would also add some layers....See MoreSabrina Alfin Interiors
