How to support granite counter overhang w/ a front facing cabinet belo

I have a u-shaped kitchen when one end of the u is an eating peninsula. Using granite over 3/4 plywood cabinets (19" deep) and will order metal support to support a 14-16" overhang. However, one cabinet below overhang open to the front, and I'm concerned because the width of the cabinet (21") will really stress the space between the brackets.

The overall width of the peninsula is 35-3/8" wide (or up to 38" if I can support) x 65" long. There is a bracket against the wall in the 3" filler, and then the next 21" wide cabinet opens front-faced under the overhang, followed by a 3" filler and then the back of a 24" cabinet.

Will the granite break if there are not brackets over the 21" wide cabinet, and/or filler space?

Planning on a corner bracket for support where overhang is on both sides, as well as 3 other L-shaped brackets.

Looking for any advice on how you treat the space where the 21" cabinet front would be under the overhang.

"I don't know how the counters are secured to the cabinets. " Gravity and sometimes some caulk/silicone. It is more just to hold them in place while joints are made. The slabs are more than heavy enough to stay put (short of large overhangs) especially after the sections are joined together. You do not need to do much of anything to the cabinets.

@mudworm, I've never seen any numbers on what overhang soapstone can handle without support. Because it is softer than granite, I'd guess that it wouldn't handle as much - but there are different kinds of strengths so I could be wrong. Maybe you could put up a post with a title like "How much support for a soapstone overhang?" Something to get the folks who know soapstone better to comment. You wouldn't wand to do it without a subtop and have it crack - especially if it fell on someones foot. You might think of it as a sub-top rather than a rough top. You want a finished surface because it will be visible. It could be plywood with a 1/4 round molding along the edge painted to match the wall. Or wood veneer to match your cabinets. @natal - the raw granite for our island cost over $2000 - that's not counting the fab. Looking around on the web, piece of cherry veneer cabinet grade 3/4" plywood, 4 x 8 is less than $200. I'm sorry that I didn't think of it at the time. It's true that isn't a big deal to not have that touch, but it would have been worth the small additional cost to me.

You could have your fabricator cut slots into the bottom of the stone and fill the slots with stainless steel or composite rods set in a bed of epoxy or acrylic adhesive designed for rodding. 30" long at a minimum and spaced every 16" or so. Alternatively, you could run a 2" steel square tube between the three posts and set the stone on that. Painted flat black and set in 3" or so, it will be somewha inconspicuous. Check your door swings first, please.

I have a peninsula with two cabinets going in opposite directions. The 24" facing my seating (10" overhang with granite) has two roll out shelves. You'll want to add those just to make it easier to access whatever is in the cabinet. I use it for my Kitchenaid mixer and Instantpot. Next to it is a 36" pots and pans drawer that faces into my kitchen. I have no issues with the opposing cabinets. I had my kitchen designer add two fake door panels on the back of the 36" cabinet to make the door for the 24" cabinet less conspicuous.

Sorry Sophie. I'm out of the house due to renovations and had connectivity issues. I'm uploading a picture of the peninsula (long side and short side) and an overall layout for the kitchen. The issue is the left side cabinet under the long side opens under the peninsula, and the right side cabinet open on the side without the overhang. So I hang hang brackets on the right side cabinet back, but am concerned about the space between bracket at the very end of the left side which will be attached to the wall. It's then 24" until the back of the right cabinet.

Sorry -for the duplicates - this is the short side panel that will have a corner angle bracket and no issue because all brackets can be affixed to the back of the cabinet below.

This is a copy of the long side of the peninsula, where the cabinet opens under the underhang. The far left will have a bracket mounted to the wall. Any way to have a bracket before the 21" cabinet that is next ends?? with a 3" filler I'm worried that with such a deep overhang its weak to go so long without a bracket.
