Livingstone Countertops/Corian Countertops/Laminate
Comments (6)We have LivingStone counters in the "Volcanic Ash" color and an integrated Corian brand sink (LS doesn't offer a single bowl sink so we went w/Corian in order to have a single bowl sink). LS feels identical to Corian and I understand it to be an identical product with a good warranty and identical care but far fewer color options. Our counters/sink are only a little over a year old but I LOVE them--nothing has stained (at least nothing that a little bleach won't take care of) and they feel/look great. Integrated sink is the most wonderful design ever. LS counters are great, low maintenance counters with what we felt were the most pros (all counter options have pros and cons and you have to make a decision that will suit you and your lifestyle the best)....See MoreCorian Countertop -Show your pics!
Comments (72)I like Corian a lot, we seriously considered it in our remodeled kitchen. The only thing that made me decide against it was that I wanted a dark counter, and was told any scratches in a dark corian would show up as white. I did have a sample piece and found it does scratch and look white. For that reason only, we went with a premium laminate. I took my laminate sample and scratched it quite hard - nothing! That decided me on the laminate. Then I saw Witch hazel, even though I didn't want a light counter, I thought it was so beautiful. If I ever do another kitchen, I would seriously consider it. Even if it scratched, it wouldn't be noticeable in that color and buffs out. No etching worries either. I....See MoreHi Macs counters
Comments (4)I had Hi-Mac black installed and it looks good ... but it scratches very easily (or maybe they are just more visible because of the color). There were even scratches made during installation - which they did remove with no prompting from me. The KD at Lowes said their store samples were professionally buffed quarterly to remove scratches and that most folks with dark colors had their's done once a year. I never did so I had no idea how much it cost. We sold the house soon after the remodel, so I don't have any long term experience with it....See MoreBeware of explosive cracks with Dupont Corian counter tops. (No heat!)
Comments (118)We have had almost the exact same issue with our corian. The builder wouldn't even come to check it only went by the pictures we sent. Then blamed it all on something "very hot" had to do that! I can tell you now, it did not. There is also a large dip or warp over the dishwasher. When we pulled it out there is absolutely no heat barrier or insulation to protect the corian. The installer also never sealed the sink basin. Which we found out the hard way when our sink overflowed. The installer/builder takes no blame Won't even come to look or tell us what we can do. There is a ten year warranty on the corian, we've been fighting this for over two years now. The ten year warranty will be up in September of this year. What can we do???...See More- 5 years ago
