Rose for cascading over a retaining wall
Comments (15)Climbing Pinkie should cascade for you, and Sweet Chariot is absolutely made for this situation, would be a nice accent as it is a blend of pink/mauve. Can't wait to hear what suggestion people have for you, as I feel sure some of the noisettes would do well in this situation too. I am growing Sea Foam in a raised bed, but the canes are quite stiff; it is completely flat to the ground, looks like I pegged it. Some roses, like Alba Meidiland, will cascade down the wall and then take root at the base of the wall & keep right on truckin'!!...See MoreSuggestions for cascade of flowers over 10' Wall????
Comments (12)All fabulous suggestions. I would not discount ivy geranium, which blooms most of the year and decorates retaining walls in Highland Park (or at least it did when I lived there in the 1980s). I also remember being entranced by tall retaining walls covered with orchid colored iceplant blossoms (the little leafed variety). Unfortunately, the show was brief, but the tiny leaves looked rather mossy for the rest of the year....See MorePlants to cascade over stone wall?

Comments (17)I have ice plant in an old stump (left about 30" high.) I tore off a few hunks from another spot, stuck it that soil filled stump, and now in it's 2nd year, has covered the stump & trails all the way to the ground. Already beginning to bloom those bright beautiful hot pink flowers which shine like patent leather. Originally I bought a 4" pot of it at Lowe's and have given away at least a dozen starts larger than I had in the beginning & just last week I took several handfuls from underneath thickest part & stuck them in other spots.
