I know this thread is from several years ago but just thought I’d give a recommendation for anyone who’s looking for a retractable hose system. I’m a big fan of HP Product’s Chameleon system. The components are just as quality as HAH if not better and are supposed to cost a little less. Also, you can buy an adapter that allows you pull the hose out and use it with a regular central vacuum inlet. Check out Owen Perkin’s videos on YouTube for more information. One other thing: when looking at floor inlets (toe kicks), buy the Cansweep. It is more reliable and so much quieter than the Vacpan. I install central vacuum systems and used to offer the Vacpan but never will again. The Cansweep can’t be beat!

I hope the wire is temp. Not permanent. If it is your contractor is a hack. It should be ran in conduit. If it was my house it would be inside the wall not exposed at all. Good luck!

I don't like clutter on my counter and my Phillips Sonicare electric toothbrush has a very small footprint and so it takes up about as much space as a regular toothbrush. It holds a charge very well and the actual charging stand is quite small as well. It holds a charge for a long period and when it needs a charge, I just do it overnight. I could keep the charger anyplace. I do have outlets behind closed storage so I could charge in the closet but honestly the charger is so small and discreet that I just keep it on the counter. It could probably just be used to hold the actual brush but I prefer my whimsical brush holder which is a 1950's small holder of some kind. Tooth brushes are much smaller and easy to stash. What doesn't have any kind of good solution are Waterpik type of flossers since even the smallest of those have a large footprint and it isn't practical at all to keep them anywhere but on the counter.

You have an attractive kitchen there. Pity the water heater installer did such an ugly job. I take it from the (also not so nice looking) exposed gas pipe in the corner that natural gas was recently added to your house? I also take it this isn't in the USA. I've seen installations like this one in Europe and Asia, though not usually in a kitchen otherwise so well decorated. Anything you build to conceal it would probably have to pass muster with your local building codes You might need a building permit. If you post where you're located, maybe someone will have an idea what would be required there. My impression is that this forum is mostly US-focused. So I expect that many of us won't know your country's or area's codes. I certainly don't. Heck, I don't even know what country you're writing from. Is the heater vented with PVC pipe? The white pipe at the top appears to be PVC. Are there two flue pipes, or just one? I can only see one at the top of the second photo, but the angle's not good and there's some kind of electrical appliance on top of the heater (I would not have put something there). If it has only one flue pipe, it would need makeup air from the house, and that means that your closet would need some kind of louvers or grill to admit air. The square area requirements for that grill will probably be part of your building code.
