What do you use in the summer. A blanket a sheet?

I use a sheet and just ordered a nice matelasse bedspread that's the perfect weight for summer.

Annie I love Matelasse coverlets.

I use the same bedding year around. Sheets and a thin down comforter. Our house is always somewhere between 68 and 74 degrees regardless of the season.

I wish I had someone to make my bed for me the way you do, mamapinky! I have been doing it myself since I was a small child.

Chi if I could I would happily make your bed. I love making beds..its my favorite chore next to laundry. The boys have been making their beds for a good while now but on sheet changing day I make them just because I enjoy it. Lol.

In the pre air conditioning years of the 1940s and 1950s, summer heat brought a change in bed linens. Winter blankets were washed to store in the large linen closet and summer white cotton flannel blankets were brought out.

Another fan of matelasse - I have them on all of my beds. I like to use a solid bedspread or coverlet and the matelasse gives me a solid color with a design woven throughout the fabric for interest.

I love percale sheets too, and that is our mainstay. Summer is a thin cotton blanket. For looks we have a cotton quilt and colorful pillows, but that gets folded back and removed at night.

I was recently going through a bin in the attic and found about 5 sets of old sheets. I do not recall why I kept them. At least 2 sets were twins which we really don’t need so those are in the box to be given away. There were also 2 really old percale sets in a beautiful floral print. They felt so good. Of course no one really appreciates floral bedding. I think one is double bed size and one set may be queen.

I use the same bedding sans the down blanket between the sheet and the very thin quilt (like a french boutis). Since I like to sleep in a refrigerator, I add a lovely cotton hand-crocheted baby receiving blanket on top of the quilt over me - a widow so I sleep alone except for the dog. It's the perfect weight. It's exactly like the receiving blanket that the Duchesss of Cambridge has used to wrap her baby when she displayed the baby a few hours after birth. I bought mine at the Nursery Window on Walton St in London, and they said that's where she bought hers as well. I have the same blanket in cashmere - use that as a bed jacket when I read in bed - fold it into a triangle and put it around my shoulders "granny" style.

In winter I layer fleece and a light comforter.

In summer I use a 100% cotton quilt. I like a bit of weight without the heat.

Watchmelol, I like cotton quilts. I don't care for the mass marketed machine made ones but I do enjoy a nice quilt. I have a very pretty white and blue one in the wedding ring design I think its called and a red white and blue one. We just never use them.

Anglo, when it comes to bedding and making a bed we are much the same. Must be the higest quality, ironed, and the bed must not only be made perfectly each morning but it also must look beautiful and inviting.

Its not ocd folks...its just one of t he very few things I do for myself. A special little treat.

I love ironed percale sheets so they are on my bed year-round. In the summer, I add an all-cotton quilt that I use like a coverlet. It can be pulled up if too cold or tossed off if too warm. In the winter, I change to a linen blanket and a thicker quilt.

Before we go to bed we close ALL the windows and turn up the AC. (note: below us is a "full to capacity" camp ground where people live in campers year round. They talk all night while sitting next to fire pits, or come and go to town. So between the noise and the smoke we close the windows).

I sleep in a T-shirt with just my feet under the sheets. A 100% cotton bottom & top sheet of sateen (400 thread count) and a down comforter folded at the foot of the bed. It all gets pulled over us around 2am.

Sheet and an old quilt year round. AC on and the ceiling fan. I love a cold room at night! Of course, with three dogs on the bed I still get hot! Maybe I should use one of the dog beds! Oh, I do keep a sheet over the quilt that gets washed daily.

Under a sheet and a light blanket. Jody keeps the bedroom as cold as a meat locker, and I freeze most of the time. I have a bunch of old percale sheets....someone gave to me for bedding for the animals, but there wasn't a thing wrong with them....so I washed them and kept them for us.

I will also mention Little Lils bedding. HAHA. She sleeps with me but at my feet. Only thing that changes for her is the thickness of her comforter. In the summer its a thinner crib size quilt in a duver cover that I make using flat twin size sheets. I have a unremarkable sheet at the bottom of my bed she lays on that under her duvet. These little dogs get cold so easily. I change her bottom sheet and duvet cover every few days and wash her quilt once or twice a week. She's not much of a shedder and I find hairs shake off sheets before going in the washer much easier than a blanket. Little rosy has a tiny little kitten bed that we put inside a pillowcase. The pillowcase is changed daily and the bed gets washed weekly. She uses baby receiving blankets to cover with.

I couldn't leave my girls out.

percale sheets and 100% cotton quilt... mine has some chambray in it, which i LOVE for the softness! it is now getting worn and threading in some places but having a hard time finding a new one :(

I love matelasse too! I had several very nice expensive matelasse bedspreads and coverlets. I lost all of them in the flood. I really miss all my bedding I had collected over the years. I am starting over at zero. So I have 100% cotton sheets and a 100 %cotton light weight quilt and matching shams in the Paris script type print in an aged color on one side and the other side is a light gray with cream writing only. It is very light weight, for me it's about perfect because I love a cold room and I usually don't use covers. Mr. Raven says he is cold but he kicks them off all the time so he can't be too cold. Mia sleeps under the covers between us or in her heated bed. She is easily chilled, not much hair, so she has a lot of nice fluffy blankets in baby size.

I need to get a few more sheet sets and quilts. I did have a light down blanket that I loved some day I might find another one I like. Steinmart has some nice light quilts in beautiful colors and patterns for affordable prices.

Lightweight duvet (no feather/down! achoo) in a duvet cover. In the winder, I use a heavier comforter in the same covers.
