Comments (32)You're such a cool dad, Faron. ;) What does your DD think of her heavy metal lovin' father's taste in music? I'm curious now as to what others listened to (by way of their parents) when they were young. Oh gosh, that question brought back memories. My mom always had records on the stereo (a console cabinet which she owns to this day). I remember being really little and she'd grab me or my younger brother and jitterbug in the living room, but I don't remember the music (very faint memory, just remember I liked her cotton skirts twirling). Clear memories are of 60's folk rock and a bit of country. I remember Peter, Paul & Mary; Glen Campbell (I knew the words to "Wichita Lineman" by heart, she burned a hole through that one, lol), Simon & Garfunkel, New Christy Minstrels, Everly Brothers. I remember "Where Have All The Flowers Gone", "Abraham, Martin & John" and "Leaving On a Jet Plane". Some Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline, and lots of Dean Martin 45s. A bit later I remember when the Allman Bros "Ramblin' Man" came on the radio she'd turn it up and sing along, she loved that song. It was kind of cool she like "our" music. ;) I guess her favorite was John Denver, but that was later, too. She has every one of his albums. Actually this gives me an idea. I should buy a collection of her favorite songs and put them on CDs for her, that would make a great gift!...See MoreIs anyone here single and over 50?
Comments (17)Now youâÂÂve got me thinking -- which is why I posted here! Maybe IâÂÂve not been assertive enough. IâÂÂve been out there doing my thing, but other than my close friends I havenâÂÂt been telling anyone that IâÂÂm single and IâÂÂd like to date. When IâÂÂm at the grocery store, too often IâÂÂm more focused on getting what I need and getting the heck outta there and not paying attention to whomever is right in front of me. You know in the movies when you see the two romantic leads and they just miss each other getting in and out of a cab or crossing a street? That could be me! And now IâÂÂm also thinking about what signals I might be sending out. IâÂÂm very independent and that could come across as aloof sometimes. ItâÂÂs common for everyone to be a little guarded and detached in public and I need to be more accessible. Why would anyone approach me if I donâÂÂt look like IâÂÂm open to it? CanâÂÂt blame them. This has been very helpful, thanks so much!...See MoreWhat should I plant here?
Comments (54)Well I will be different however here is my idea. First I would enhance the dry river bed area...by bringing in fist sized river rock. You may need to put landscape fabric under the rock area to deter future weeding ;) next I would outline with edging the planting area with something to block plants from spreading into rock area. NEXT I would use all MEXICAN FEATHER GRASS in the planting area. It does not require water AND it blows softly with any breeze at all giving a softening effect and it is an xeriscape planting. This all will contrast nicely - the hard rocks with soft grasses and ULTRA low maintenance - also then I would make the backyard (inside the fence) LUSH with roses and ultra green plantings in a lush manner to contrast with the outside...I see you have rose arbors on the inside of the fence...plant for color and lush effect of roses over the top part of the fence...it will contrast even nicer with the outside...just my two cents. I do not have photoshop yet but used MS PAINT here is a diagram only...not really good but you will get the picture ;)...See MoreWhen will you to to a movie or concert?
Comments (54)I picked up the worst case of flu I have ever had in my life once at the movies. I've never been a movie fan and hubs just got a big screen tv so we'd rather rent . . . better and cheaper snacks at home.. Concerts and theater are really going to be tough for us. But the answer is no, too much at stake. I've picked up things at concerts and theaters even before covid. My lungs are so weak, I don't want to risk the problems it will bring into my life. Our local theater is experimenting with a partnership with a local outdoor wedding venue that has a large pavilion. They are starting with a cabaret there next week. MI theaters are not allowed open yet. Hubs and I were debating. Not sure we would still feel comfortable because we live in the land of stupid and people don't care about social distancing so while I trust the venue, I don't trust the patrons. What seems likely is that there could be asymptomatic carriers among the crowd because people in my area are not taking the pandemic seriously, However, I do like the idea of outdoor venues, so we might go and see how it is for starters. We are big patrons of the theater. But no way am I going in there until the pandemic is under control. I know too much about the ventilation system in that building, both heat and air conditioning. Not the greatest under the best of circumstances. Hubs and I are probably going to continue to hunker down at home. Lots to do here. Trying to keep up socially online....See MoreUser
