How to fix my curtain panel screw up
Comments (30)Fabricland had tons of stuff but nothing that would work. The fabrics were very upholstery like and not suited for a child's room. They did have some specifically geared towards kids but those were only 84". @mlweaving_Marji, what you said makes perfect sense. Although I will have to come up with a new plan as I won't be able to sew anything together. Even if I attempted it, I don't the time. We go from 6:30am until 10:30pm every week day, and have one day's worth of free time on the weekend which is used for grocery shopping, cleaning, etc. I could look into a seamstress but I wouldn't expect it to be cheap here. 2 years ago I got straps shortened on a top (nothing fancy or difficult about it) and it cost $25. The top was only $50. Ha ha. Hemming pants costs $20. We installed the rod yesterday and hung the panels and they definitely need more width. Even if they are directly over the window/frame, light creeps through the sides. And it looks like it needs more width. The silk ones are really nice though and nice quality. Unfortunately, Pottery Barn screwed up and one panel, even though it says 96" is 84". Sigh. So no matter what, something has to go back which is going to involve extra shipping costs, etc. Since I have to go through that gong show, I could see if I can scrounge up enough to purchase more panels of what I already have, but if I can't put them up without being sewn together, that doesn't help me much either. WHY do they make panels so narrow? They are designing 2 panels to fit a 36" window? Our windows aren't even overly large for the room and they are wider than that. If they made them wider, they would still work on narrow windows but also work on wider windows. Comments (136)I loved gardenweb, but I will so not be returning to this walmartization of yet another good community interaction. I hope gardenweb's owners made a bundle because they maintained an excellent source of intercommunication between garden enthusiasts for a long time; but the bigger fish will always eat the smaller I suppose. The question is, who or what will be the biggest fish and simply devour us all? BTW, houzz is extremely user unfriendly, no doubt slapped together by some billionaire with a "bright idea," customers and clients be damned. Comments (56)Bluffing is not against the law but threats of that nature can be construed as blackmail by the person being threatened. Where did you get the idea that making people mad was an effective dispute resolution strategy? The strongest leverage the OP had was the ability to terminate the contract. But that bridge has already been burned for no benefit without consulting a lawyer who would have warned that it would anger the architect and close the door to a timely negotiated settlement. Adding blackmail-like threats is only going to guarantee there will be no short term settlement and the OP doesn't have time to use any other method of dispute resolution. I don't see how your online comments elsewhere about responding to online complaints about your work could possibly be of use to the architect in question. This seems a very odd forum in that contractors can grandstand and post self-serving spam promoting their businesses....See MoreHouzz screwed up my settings
Comments (8)Up till now, I have had no problems navigating anywhere within GW or Houzz and have been surprised that so many seem to have issues moving around the forums unimpeded. But then, I never sign off or log off either. Then this morning while reviewing my recent notifications, I see that posts on the HOME side of the GW forums are asking me to sign in to comment!! What's up with that?? Never happened before! But when I click on that message, the comment box immediately opens up without requiring me to sign in........very confusing. And the Landscape Design forum format has changed to the usual Houzz mess rather than its more typical GW format it has had for the two decades or more I have been participating there. I dislike that format intensely and if it remains, I will decline to participate in that forum any longer. Houzz people........are you reading this?? Please take note that these arbitrary changes you are making are not well received. The system is NOT broken so no need to change!!!...See Morechispa
