Google Earth Pro, large areas blacked out

I think a couple of months ago I caused this problem when deleting things in my task manager. Large areas are blacked out, not places which are deliberately blacked out, but large chunks of cities.

If I zoom out the screen is fine, but zooming in is when it goes black, with small areas that are normal.
I can look at street view just fine.

I checked out the menu and settings on GEP, and no help. Any idea how to fix this?

Saying that the set up was anything other than trivial suggests the problem has to do with something other than the software. It isn't normally something to struggle with or to "fix".

Google Earth isn't a particularly bulky or difficult bundle of software. If you have a not too old and reasonably equipped PC, getting it to run should be as easy as anything else. If you have a reasonable internet connection, downloading it again should also not be a big deal.

The approach I previously described should be quick and effective.

Have you tried uninstalling it, deleting all files from the applicable app data folder, and then starting again from scratch?

I went through he!! to get GEP to even work, so the answer is no. Last year when GE automatically downloaded GEP during the night, I couldn't access it at all. I uninstalled/installed several times. My son came over and even he couldn't figure out what happened, but he fixed it where I have to use google chrome in order to get on GEP. Normally I just clicked the icon on Windows.

It worked great and then black areas began, then went away after a few weeks, and it came back a few weeks ago.

I found only one place online that said how to fix it, but it was an old post and when I tried doing it while on GEP, my menu didn't have what the person suggested to click on. I forget what it was, but I can't find anything online to help with this problem. I can't even find a phone number. lol

Ok, I'll probably never be able to show my face her again, but here goes... My current home was built in 1950, but had a major remodel in the mid 80's. (Think mauve and lots of it.) There are two bathrooms. One had a beige toilet and the master had a - you guessed it - mauve toilet. I could not WAIT to replace the toilets, but it was not just the sheer butt ugliness of the colors. It was at least in part because I could not tell what color my pee was. So, my advice is that if knowing the color of your pee on an ongoing basis is even of the slightest interest to you - go for a white toilet.

We put a charcoal gray (anthracite) Blanco Silgranit sink into our last home (about 12 years ago) and after a few years of use, we were less than pleased with its performance, especially for the price tag. At first, it was amazing and we loved how it looked! Over the years, we used it for everything - normal kitchen/dish washing use but also occasionally to wash out paint brushes, soaking clothes, even washing show chickens in it. (No utility room sink, so the kitchen sink was the go to spot.) We kept it clean and well cared for. We believed all the hype back then that Blanco sinks were impervious to just about everything and I guess we should have been more careful. It basically started looking blotchy and losing its color on the bottom. It then started pitting on the bottom and was no longer a smooth surface, especially around the drain. And the blotchiness wasn't really stains but rather "burns", according to what we had read online. By the time we were ready to sell the house, it was pretty unsightly and we had to replace it. (Due to the less than helpful Blanco customer service folks who refused to honor any sort of warranty, we went with a Kraus sink.) But we only had the Kraus sink for a few months before moving, so not sure how that one will hold up. So now I'm trying to decide what to do with our new (but 15 year old home). I like how durable stainless sinks are and how cost effective they are but since spots and smudges on the stainless steel appliances drive me crazy and I'm CONTSTANTLY wiping them off, adding one more stainless item to care for in this kitchen doesn't seem like a wise decision. Anyway, thought I would add my 2 cents. I still can't decide if I want to do another composite sink (but do a more reasonably priced manufacturer like Kraus) or go with something else. If I do composite again, I will definitely go with a darker color and be super diligent about ONLY soap and water going into the sink.

If you repaint the columns white, that alone will improve the look. I looked on Cambria website for Hermitage and I think it is quite busy pattern. I would see in person a whole slab to assess this pattern. I always stress people see full slabs in person. Then make other selections. I also like a more blue gray with your tile and future wood flooring. Champagne pulls would be very pretty with that combo. Once those decisions are made, then select wall color. Take a look at BM Pale Oak and SW Panda White.

I didn't see the second part of your post about deleting files from the applicable app data folder. After uninstalling GE, right?

So, how do I do that? I'm not really a techie. :)

On my Win10 PC, Google Earth app data is at C:\Users\user\AppData\LocalLow\Google\GoogleEarth

If you don't find that folder in Windows Explorer, then enter- GoogleEarth - (no hyphens) in the search box at the upper right of the Explorer screen.

Sometimes an uninstall deletes appdata, sometimes not. If a search doesn't find it, then you're okay.

If it's there, that subfolder (Google Earth) should be deleted by highlighting the folder name (one left mouse click or touchpad click) and then pressing the keyboard Delete button.

Then reinstall. If you're uncomfortable with any of this, wait until you can find more confident hands to do it for you.
