best color to pair with red
Comments (12)Since bright red is a color of high energy IMO it's not the best choice for a bedroom wall. I suggest using a softer or deeper red or, better yet, not using red on walls but in accessories - area rug, window treatment, bedding, one piece of furniture, or art. However color is a very individual choice and I believe we all see color differently so you and your boyfriend may feel differently about red. Red is compatible with many colors - grey, taupe, brown, cream, pale yellow, white, navy, many blue tones, really almost anything if the correct tones are selected. Reds can tend toward the blue or orange spectrum or 'true red' which is balanced in the middle. Reds with the addition of black or preferably green (it's opposite on the color wheel) are deeper and more muted and a better choice for a bedroom, again IMO. A way to use red 'tastefully' is in a sophisticated pattern for fabric, wallpaper, rug, or art. Or by using a deep red velvet headboard which I find very romantic. Comments (7)LOL, so pretty much everyone likes something different! Well, two votes for #1 (blue) and DH likes the blue one as well. Of course, that's the most expensive one . . . Snookums2, the picture doesn't really capture the wall color exactly. My mockup color is from the swatch and really does reflect the color accurately. I really like the the contemporary rug very much, but I think I'm drawn more to the colors than the design/style. As far as the table goes, I like the idea of a dark orange but what about a grayish green?...See MorePersian style rug made modern?
Comments (19)Keepthefaith, there’s no garden, this is a condo unit downtown - there is a small balcony that overlooks a row of trees in the summer but nothing interesting in the winter. Allison, i love your idea of looking for a vintage modern piece for the TV. I will take a look around. West Elm is so expensive, I splurged big time on the sofa - I can’t bring myself to spend much for a TV table. I’m actually considering moving the TV to the spare bedroom that I was hoping to use as a guest room/play room/ office combination. My kids are 5 and 8 so they’re in school while I work from home. The 15x10 bedroom can maybe be a multifunctional room. I guess that would be a topic of its own! That being said, I totally see where you’re coming from for the piano. Part of me also finds it a shame that it’ll be hiding the sofa a bit. Maybe by moving the TV out of this room, the piano could go where the TV is. The living room would also be less crowded this way. I don’t mind a bit of open space - my kids are young enough that they’ll appreciate the space to spread out, dance around, set up a show, do a floor puzzle, etc. I’m still struggling with the coffee table too. I don’t hate freedomspace’s suggestion but I don’t love it either. Maybe a tad too industrial for me? Can one live without a coffee table?...See Morecolor of couches with red Persian rugs
Comments (13)I would do both the same....I have an off white sofa ottoman and love seat in a room with a large Persian rug in the red tones and I like it a lot....on the other hand I have a soft rosy, cream and blue striped sofa in another room with a red toned Persian rug....and I like that look too, albeit more formal. If you really have a huge room, you might think of the new sofa being very long and upholster it the same as the older one...unless you are looking for the balance of 2 like sized pieces. and please don't cheapen and compromise that lovely rug with cheap looking "persian rug" throw pillows....See MoreLaura Hill
