I don't watch CNN anymore either for the same reason. 24/7 Trump bashing.

I am sure there are other things going on in this world besides DT.

I don't watch TV news and we don't even get the cable channels. I do read a lot of news though. There's enough going on to be upset about that I don't need to add to it by getting angry at a TV station. People get so worked up over what this pundit or that spokesperson said and most of the time I've never even seen them speak.

DH puts the local news on a few times a week. They sometimes give a national top story, and if it's the toddler in the WH speaking, he gets the mute button.

Yeah, I miss the old days of CNN. It was groundbreaking once upon a time. Now it, and so much other tv 'news,' is on par with the tabloids you used to see in grocery store checkout lines. Sensationalist pap.

This is why I only pay for a basic cable package with the 3 networks PBS and CSPAN. I live quite nicely without the rest. I prefer to spend my money in order to read the NYTImes (know thine enemy!), the Wall Street Journal, my local paper (rubbish but I need to know if something important might be happening, an The Times (London). l enjoy the Wall Street Journal and The Times the most.

I have news anxiety, from whatever source!

CNN has always been that way, but it’s worse now. They love to play a one-note song. It’s just too much. Remember when that airliner crashed in the ocean and couldn’t be found? They beat that topic day after day. I agree with foggy, CNN will just increase anxiety. When I’m home working, I don’t mind having tv on to keep up with news, but cnn has gotten to be more than I can stand.

IMO, Fox is the worst (they, again IMO, absolutely just make things up. It's unbelievable). MSNBC, at the other end of the spectrum, also annoys me. Same thing over and over and over ad nauseam. I admit that I do watch and follow CNN, because it's the closest thing that I'VE found to middle of the road. Now, before any panties get twisted, yes, I know it's not middle of the road. It certainly leans left. But so do I.

I think it really intensified when Trump went after the news and media last year. He made a lot of enemies in that world and now a lot of people are out to discredit him wherever possible. He brought it upon himself.

I still like CNN but I get annoyed when there is "breaking news" every day. I used to get anxiety when I saw that, expecting a tragedy, but now it's usually something political.

I don't watch much national TV news on any channel, although if I'm working at home, I will occasionally turn on Velshi and Ruhle or Velshi's solo show because they have good insights on the economy. I turn on the local news sometimes, only after the first 5 minutes, unless there is something of local interest. It is terrible.

I follow news closely, but since Fox don't deal in facts I never watch them. They are just an opinion channel, and their opinion is of no interest to me. I watch network channels and CNN, although CNN get a bit tiresome when they call things they have talked about for hours, if not days, "Breaking News" over and over again. I turn the channel when one of their evening anchors (I can't remember her name) comes on. Her voice is like fingernails on a blackboard. I especially like Chris Como's interviews. He keeps it real.

I get most of my news from Internet sites, but do watch my local news at 11 and turn on CNN now and then, usually when a big story is breaking. I can't stand their panels because within a few minutes of starting the panelists are shouting and talking over each other. Because the news is so chaotic these days, I keep telling myself I'm going to stop watching/reading because it does cause anxiety, but I seem to be like a moth drawn to a flame.

I get tired of the BREAKING news which turns out to be nothing. I have no idea where Faux "news" is on my remote because it's not news but entertainment. I only see snippets of it at the gym while on the treadmill. Since MSNBC isn't on gym's TVs I saw Anderson Cooper interview COL. Ralph Peters, former Fox contributor. He blasted Fox and tRump worse than any liberal, and he's a right wing extremely conservative. Cooper asked if we're going into a constitutional crisis and he said we're already there. He had zero good to say about tRump and plenty of horrific things.

I have pretty much been avoiding television news for some time now. Its not that I'm against Trump-bashing. Nearly everything he says or does deserves bashing. I just cannot stand to see his repugnant orange face, or hear his grating voice or his infantile 5th-grade vocabulary.

At some point in mid-2016 I was at a local diner for lunch that had CNN on. The entire time I was there they were having a BREAKING NEWS ALERT where the story was that Joe Biden had once again re-affirmed once again that he really, actually wasn't running for President.

I don't like any of the network news programs. Now that America is great again, the wall is built, the healthcare has been solved and all the other promises have been fulfilled, why do we need to hear every time the Buffoon in Chief picks his nose? I'm glad I don't have cable or satellite anymore.

I see a great danger in the American public becoming so fed up with 'the news' that they stop paying attention. It's the Fourth Estate's duty to report news. It's a public duty to pay attention to it.

The media has always told us what an American president said and did. It's not the media's fault that they report on the 3000 outright lies Trump has told -- and continues to tell -- or to his outrageous actions as president. It's the media's duty, to report what an American president says and does. It's not pretty, but, "Don't blame the messenger."

Too Much "News": Broadcasters were shocked to discover that people were so interested in current events that they could SELL advertising time to broadcast 'news'. Until then, broadcasters were required by law to provide minimal minutes per day because the government thought it important for citizens to know what was happening. When they discovered they could make money on 'news', but that hard news was inadequate to fill the air 24/7, the news got 'modified' into this 'discussion' mode.

In live broadcasting there is a director who is unseen and unheard by the audience. He has to keep things on schedule. He spins his hands to speed things up. He 'pulls taffy', spreading his hands apart, to slow things down.

Broadcasting has gone crazy with the STRETCH signal to fill time with pseudo news. Stop watching that stuff. Seek out hard news. Don't blame reporters for the facts they report on.

You know cable news is in trouble when it takes Rachel Maddow literally 15 minutes of nonsensical and repeated rambling to get to the point of one story. Especially after it’s already been reported in the news all day long.

I watch MSNBC a couple of hours daily to avoid having my head in the sand. What bothers me the most is that instead of reporting on a lot of the things that really matter, they waste so much time reporting about the stupid distractions of daily tweet rants and off the wall commentary by one of his minions. How many times can a talking head answer the same question of “what was he thinking” or “what does this mean” differently? The reality is that we never hear about the majority of what’s really going on. It’s almost like it’s completely censored now.

IMO, Fox News is the US version of Putin’s RT news, which when you think about it, is pretty darn scary.

Shep is usually good for news, can’t stand his fill-ins though.

cbs West is good for news in the am but need to do outside work while it’s cooler.

Those who are complaining about repeating news are saying they watch several hours daily. What do you expect? Just because cable news broadcasts 24/7 doesn't mean you have to consume it all day long. Most people check in only once or twice a day so it's not repetitious to them.
